Faxanadu - I'm for Europe (Scotland), aged 35 now and played videogames at 18 as well as going to pubs/clubs, having sex with female students and the odd fat bird (now married - bbooooo, I miss the fun of a night out on the pull), going to the cinema, playing football (soccer) etc. What on earth has Europe or America got to do with it???

'The Anarchyz' basically summed up why I said 30+, but i'm sure many younger gamers also got that magical feeling when playing OOT.

Faxanadu, you are a bawbag (Scottish slang for scrotum).

I wanted to point out that video games didnt give me as magical feelings at that time as the other two activities. Hence less interest and my preference of AlttP.

I pointed out Europe vs. America since drinking isnt allowed until the age of 21 in the states.

Try for reading comprehension first the next time, before insulting someone.

Do you honestly think American males wait until 21 to drink?? The legal age in Scotland for drinking is 18 and you will not find a single male who did not drink before they were 18 (15/16 is about the normal age to start in Scotland, although in shit Glasgow slum areas 12/13 would be the normal age).

I'm only 26, but I remember getting my gold cartridge the day it came out and having my mind blown by the gigantic world, horse-riding, music, and the battle system with the new/fresh/amazing Z-targeting system that's still used in most 3rd-person adventure games to this day, including stuff like GTA.

But I still think Link's Awakening and Twilight Princess were better!

Finally someone else who acknowledges the sheer brilliance of Link's Awakening! :)

Please stop being so anal. I did not introduce the topic of drinking age limitations to this discussion. I merely responded to it and added that I am from Europe so that people would understand that I am living under different rules of law.

I was not discussing who starts drinking at what age illegally or legally, nor whether my crotch is the biggest. So please stop being annoying.

I didn't say I done anal at that age!

Ah, OoT. It was the first game I ever preordered. (And the first game I ever returned; on release day, I opened it in my car and when I saw grey, went back in and showed my receipt for a gold cart.) I was happily looking forward to playing my 5th Zelda game, but I have to say that it really let me down. Part of the fun in a Zelda series for me is trying to find everything. And there's usually these couple of things I just couldn't find. But in OoT, the extent to what I couldn't get on my own (no book, looking up, anything) was a handful of skulltulla. And after beating the game, I had this feeling of "That's it?" There wasn't anything more to find; I had no reason to want to play the game again. Coupling this with an perceived easier difficulty for the main game, and I really can't say that I was wowed by it. Now, as a few others have said, LttP, now that was a good Zelda game.

By far the most impressed I've ever been with a game.

Yes. It's the same way I felt when I played uncharted 2 last night. I am one of the lucky people to get a copy early. Mine is signed by Amy Hennig :)

I'm 27 and the N64 was the console I most enjoyed. I am pretty sure I was the first one to have one in Argentina, just when it was released in the USA. Mario 64 delivered everything I had dream of and more. But later, when I got my hands on OoT... It's so hard to describe it. It indeed was revolutionary. For games as it is that the N64 is my favourite console still.
I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet, but I definitely enjoyed the first one. Though it is a masterpiece, I don't think of it as a revolutionary game. At least not in the way OoT was at its time. And I don't think Uncharted 2, putting a side all its awesomeness, will make me feel the same.

First Zelda I ever liked. I hated the prior games. Do I feel some bizzar nostalgia for the game. no. Good game, but really it deserves it's rep as much as FF7. A new direction that was very well implemented without any mistakes because of silly gimicks. Just solid core Zelda. WW was overall a better design scarred with a few bad flaws. While I dislike kid link I love WW.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
