I just still think that parents and other family members having a choice of 127 pound 360 and 249 Pound PS3 will pick the first one because for those consumers price is the most important thing. That's what helped out MS last year and it will help them this year to some extent.

I still think it will be very close, and MS will edge it in EU.

Haha I wanted to make a thread called ' Can Halo ODST save Xbox 360?' just for the lolz but I expect some bans and I don't want that.....

-The Arcade 360 went up to £160 a few weeks ago

-I'm talking about the whole of Europe not just UK, where PS is still better known than Xbox (PS3 caught up in EU last year despite MS's 16 month lead)

-GT5 is coming, much more popular in EU than any 360 exclusive

-The PS3 had a 100 Euro price cut, I don't think the 360's cut was that much and it was only for the more expensive Elite anyway.

^That's why Sony have Europe in the bag versus Microsoft, imo. We'll see. This is going to be by far the most interesting holiday season yet.

Yes, the only country where the 360 will stay alive and meaningful will be the US now...

@kowenicki : ... and yet, nobody wants it anymore and it's outsold 2:1 by the 299$ PS3. How surprising.

360 is £149.99 including a game

The RRP is £160, isn't it? You can get a PS3 slim for £230 but sticking to the RRPs makes it simpler.

PS3 secured second place. Plus it has a decent chance to sell on par with the Wii for the rest of the gen.

X360 70 million (40 mill more to go)
Ps3 80 million (55 mill more to go)
Wii 115 million (60 mill more to go)

My end of gen predictions (and logic behind them):

Wii: 110-115 million

I'll say the wii just barely beats the PS3 by end of gen. On average since launch the wii has sold call it ~18-19 million units per year (I'm probably off a bit). I bet it continues on this pace for 5 years total for 90 million sales after 5 years. Then I think sales drop slightly to maybe 13-14 million in the 6th year with the announcement of a Wii 2 (or whatever they call it) for a total of ~103 million consoles. Then the wii slowly loses support but makes its way to 110-115 million by end of gen.

PS3: 100 million

The PS3 is on pace for about 80 million or more units by November 2016 (end of 10 year plan) based purely on average right now and its only been at $299 for 2 weeks. I bet it continues to sell really well for a long time and in a couple years when it drops to $199 sales will shoot up again. Call me crazy but I say PS3 can make 100 million since it plays Blu-rays, its future proof thanks to firmware updates, and high def is becoming increasingly popular.

360: 65-70 million

I predict the 360 comes in a relatively distant third place this gen. Since it doesn't have the extreme popularity of the Wii or the Blu-ray capabilities of the PS3 I think the 360 will have the shortest life of the big 3 consoles. The 360 should sell as well as it has for another 2 years or so bringing it to about 55-60 million sales, but sales will be hurt in the 6th year when the "Xbox 720" is announced and the PS3 and Wii are down to $199 and $129 respectively and its 6th year will only bring it up to about 60-65 million sales. And I predict it trickles to 65-70 million before it completely dies. Oh yeah, and Natal flops big.

@kowenicki : don't react like the xbox live kid on my avatar please.

It's outsold 2:1 by a PS3 which costs twice as much, I know it hurts, but crying won't change the fact you were wrong and I was right. PS3 is in front, which was predictable since there hasn't been any AAA full game since last november on 360.

Bet what ?

I bet the PS3 slim will sell 550k first week and 300k second week and completely crush the 360.

Oh look, it already happened.
