Yes, but unlike in NA and EU, they didn't drop the price of the old model.  Would you really buy a phat PS3 for $399 when you can wait a week and get the slim for $299?  Didn't think so.

No, it is a fact.

I don't why people are over-reacting about this...while it is probably due to the transition between the two models.

Has anyone here ever actually wanted a system before?

If you want one, you will hunt it down. This isn't about a lack of availability. Chances are consumers are just waiting for the Slim to come out.

stores get ps3 slims on september 3rd fool, Sony discontinued the 160gb and 80gb ps3 SKU's in japan for the slim.
