Owning a PS3 gets you half way to a ban, asking a polite question about the wii gets you the rest of the ban.

Owning a wii and not trolling/bashing Sony gets you banned.

Owning a wii and bashing the PS3 and Sony gets you modship.

Being a moron can get you banned too. Being a whiny moron will most likely ensure that you get your ass beat with the ban stick at some point in the near future.

I don't want you to get banned ... please be a bit more tactful.

Its a clear joke, if those were the rules you would have alot more mods :)

I thought common sense was a lost cause on the internet.

One thing that has made the Vgchartz community so fun is that you don't get restricted at every opportunity, and the users are mature enough to not take advantage of this (well, most of them).

The number one thing that can get you banned is repeated trolling, especially very rudely, something like,

"BIASED Wii FANGIRLS!" " ENJOY PLAYING YUR GAMECUBE 2 LOLZORZ!!"

Too lazy to put it in 1337 speak.

I suggest using this for easy (and lazy) switching into fanboy speak.  Punctuation is needed for full effect.

Lately a lot of fanboys have been getting their panties in a bunch when one of their own is banned. A clear guideline on bannable offences should be stated in the forum rules that all members (regardless of status or time with the community) should be held to the same standards.

So far I can think of a couple things that should be stated in the rules as guaranteed bans (either short 24 hrs, week long or permanent)

- Derogatory discussions, racial comments and discriminating remarks of any kind

- Personal attacks, threats, and just plain impolite posts.

- Being a PS3 owner/fanboy

Continuous trolling should be a bannable offence but this will be tricky because apparently all fanboys have their own definition of trolling.. Deciding on a forum trolling "definition" would probably be the first step on cracking down on trolls.

 Fixed.

Personally I think nothing short of posting offensive material or spamming should warrant a ban, but it's a bit of a stretch to say that people are getting banned for asking polite questions about the Wii.

All of the "polite questions" I've seen PS3 fans ask about the Wii have been crafted to imply something derogatory about the Wii (e.g. it's just for casual gamers, it's a fad, etc.). This naturally results in Wii fans coming to defend the Wii and usually attacking the person who asked the question. The person who asked the question then tries to act as though they're perfectly innocent and didn't contrive their question to draw flames. While I don't think posting flamebait should be a bannable offense, I have a hard time believing that these people aren't trying to start a flamewar given how precisely these questions are crafted for the task of starting a flamewar.
