These are my opinions on my PS3/60gig

Things I like:

Video Chat Full Screen = Kick Ass on a 61inch HDTV, if you havn't tried it, do it, make sure they are hot chicks.

Internet Browser: Nothing better then being in lazy mode sitting on the couch and want to look up something it's a +

Installing Other an OS: Get the option and use it

Card Reader: Transferring items when I can not find my jump drive is excellent

Photo Gallery: Wedding photos look amazing

Remote Play: Another Kick Ass Feature, Check on my Home when i'm not homewith Camera, needs more work tho

Hard Drive Swapping: No Limit, well there might be, but don't think I will use the max

Backwards Compatibility: PS1 and PS2 (60gig baby)

PlayStation Store: They Give me a Real Price, not points

Built In Power Supply: No Big ass grey box, that cost $100 if it breaks..

Two People can own the same game for one price: A nice little trick that lets you and a friend share games

Things I Don't Like:

Font Size: Everything is small, annoyingly small, even on a 61HDTV, hate to see what a SDTV looks like

Controller: Why fuck up the triggers? why?, how about a little upgrade for people that grew up along with their hands for comfort, No external battery - my TV/PS3 is 8 feet away from my couch, WTF is a charging cord that size?

PlayStation Store: Not a user friendly store, Why so many games have no demo's? and again everything is Small, from the words to the pics, Pics are real small, don't know why I have all this empty space on either side of the PS-Store, use it to make shit bigger please.

BlueTooth: Nice feature, but like my cell phones, it just doesn't feel like a solid connection, 2 out of 5 times I hit the PS button on the controller the controller turns on but not the PS3 hence getting up and turning on the PS3 Manually.. I always have to reconnect my BlueTooth Keyboard, always.

Headset: use any BlueTooth headset, but if you don't use the PS3 Headset you will have issues turning it on like a keyboard, headset doesn't turn off when the system turns off, to just waste battery?  I can not connect more then one headset at a time? so much for Co-Op online play.

Blu-Ray: I pay for Sonys new Format. I got storage to replace speed, why? so my games load slower and mandatory installs? I do not see the "I must have" when I watch a Blu-Ray movie, compared to an upscaled DvD.... on a 61in HDTV 120hz anyway

Mandatory Installs: not so bad if you upgrade the Hard Drive, but space is running out for those that don't,  could give me the option to install a game I want to improve the loading times?

Interface/Options: Not user friendly, WTF does YPB/CB Pr/Cr Super-White or RGB Full Range mean to the average user? this is when the built in browser & google come in handy, Even resolution options can be a pain, why can't my PS3 just STAY on 1080p even when I force it? It just can't do it. To many options is not a good thing hence why people make help topics to get better framerates for your PS3 games.

Download/Installs: Ok my download is finally done... installing? what? You can't find a way to do it in one quick way like other systems? I wouldn't mind if the isntalls didn't take forever. Eye Of Judgment and Pain installs can be... well... a pain. Downloaded Burnout Paradise on both the 360 and PS3 at the same time, PS3 finished almost 7 minutes after the 360, and then I had to install the demo (but I guess it depends on were you live)

Runs Hot: Picture this, your at work, left your PS3 on to do some Folding@Home, you get a call from your wife freaking out that the PS3 is over heating: WTF.. what do you mean? well.. I was dusting the entertainment center and dusted the PS3... WAIT, stop right there, you dusted my PS3? with what?.. Pledge?  no like you told me, gently no pressure, but it's real hot, I get home and feel the PS3.. No honey, that's how it gets. Sorry but my PS3 has always run hotter then my other systems.

Charging Accessories: Charging controllers or accessories is a pain, the system has to be on, will not charge when off like other consoles, I bought a multicharger for the controllers that plugs into a wall outlet, but does not work for Duel Shocks, plugging the USB and trying to play at the same time will not work when your TV is a 61in and you have to sit at least 6 feet away to not go cross-eyed.

OldSchool Complaint: Bleemcast upscaled PS1 games to look much, much, better, why couldn't The Cell do it?

How I got my PS3:

I waited in line for 32hours in front of a Super Wal*Mart for my PS3, I was 4th in line of about 20, and I had a Great Time! doing it, met some cool people that I still talk to till this day.

When I worked at Gamestop, we would go to the store and wait in line with the people, bring drinks, DvD Player and TV, talk about games, movies, do it! even if you have the chance to preorder, it's the experience and the stories you have later that matter.


P.S. I waited in line for 12hours for my PS2 , I was first in line at 12:00pm the lady at the Lay-Away looked at me like i was crazy when I asked if this was the place to buy the PS2 and if i can wait here (she said yes, but not till 12:00am), then 12:20pm I had over 20 person in line behind me, the line wrapped around a quarter of the store by 8:00pm and at 12:00am when I was sold the first PS2 the Wal*Mart let everyone know the second truck did not show up and they only had 3 PS2's, we were escorted out by police.

I have pretty much the same dislkes as you, except:


Runs Hot(That happens, but I don't mind it)

Font Side(I don't mind it, it's fine)

BlueTooth(Luckily, that doesn't happen to me)

the only thing that ran hot on me is my PC. i guess im lucky

external power supply is not supposed to be dislike because if it breaks, it means that you can change the power supply with a simple purchase. On the PS3, if the internal power supply breaks, then you can't do much except paying an expensive fee to Sony.

Fair points. Although the Bluetooth sounds funny as I've never had that (maybe issue with your unit?).

For BR, I guess it's all down to the individual, but as a cinema fanatic the difference in BR on HD TV vs DVD is huge to my eyes (obviously the degree depends on the film and how it actually looks).

DVD still looks great, upscaled DVD looks better, but BR looks much better again - but of course just like sound nuts, I guess it depends if you're looking for that. I always want better visual and audio fidelity for example, so the difference matters to me.

- my dualshock connect and start the console everytime I do it. Not 2 times out of 5

- the only reason it overheats is because the powersupply is inside. Touch the brick of the 360 after it ran all day and you will feel that it's hot.

- "why can't my PS3 just STAY on 1080p even when I force it" First of all, don't force the upscaling it may make games look uglier. Second, the PS3 doesn't have an hardware upscaler like the 360, so you have to let your TV do the upscale.

i rarely have to charge my controller, i feel that the battery life is pretty long
what i dont like about it is that it freezes sometimes which is very annoying

I know your not trolling at all or anything like that but I get a extreme feeling that you are paid by sony to advertise.  Not trying to be offensive. Just calling it out as I see it.
