I'm pretty sure PS1 B/C's being provided through software emulation on PS3, not hardware.

Thankfully, my PS3 is backwards compatible. I am almost done with last gen games anyway. I just need to finish SotC which shouldn't take too long. I don't really care much of finishing FFXII and Persona 3 I'll probably just get for the PSP when it comes out.

I mean that from the start there should have been zero effort in making the PS3 have PS1 disc BC. Obviously the PS1 games they have in PSN is all good, heck I buy PS1 PSN games I already OWN (FFVII HELLO!). They should have focused exclusively on HW PS2 BC.

People say "Thats why I have a slim" but how many people really want more and more consoles stacking up? taking up plugs?

I have a PS3 that plays All 3 playstation systems, thats the future.. lol

its true all current ps3 even the slim will have B/C soon but it will only play ps2 games wen u buy them from the psn store not from ur all ps2 disk collection

I dunno if we will see very many PS2 games show up on PSN until the PS4 comes out. It's sad but at most we will probably see 100 games each from PS1 and PS2 catalogs brought into PSN. When the PS4 comes out we might not even see PS3 games in PSN until a couple years after the PS4 release.

I think in the long run it makes money for SONY to do it this way. SONY still sells a significant number of PS2s. One of their biggest mistakes was including PS2 HW BC in the PS3. If they had instead dropped all HW BC from PS3 we might have seen $50-100 less PS3 from the start.

ive actually been rockin my ps2 a bit lately, as i got front mission 4 for 5 bucks.

great game

back compat is always fun, i never had gamecube, yet i enjoy the games it had on my wii
