Well my 60GB PS3 just got that flashing red light thing tonight. The problem is that II don't live in the states. I bought it off of amazon in august 2007 and had it brought to my country by a friend of mine. To have it fixed by sony will cost $150 plus all the charges for shipping in and out of my country not to mention the bastards at customs.

So my question is should i wait until they release the slim and just buy a new one? Or perhaps buy a 360 or wii. Just pinging some ideas.

well i was reading up about it and there are some who think that is the problem. Some tech folk were investigating why this happens so much to the 60GB and they theorized that the PS2 emulation chip is what was overheating and bricking the whole system.

Any educated guesses as to when the slim will be available (not announced)

I say just go for a x360. A lot of great games, and it has a nice warranty

September is the likely release for this slim

I'm considering it but I think now is a bad time (Unchated 2, Ratchet, God of War and GtT5 tell me so)

There is no guarantee that a slim is coming out this year

There is also no guarentee that a slim ISNT coming out this year.
