Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSN vs. Xbox Live - which is better now?

Some people in this thread need to get over themselves, seriously. Take a step back and quit attacking other people's opinions.

Am I wrong because in my situation I feel as though PSN is better? Does that make me a Sony fanboy or Pro-Sony advocate? Of course it doesn't.

I game online very rarely and when I do I do not use mics or text chat, I just play. That's it. Nothing more.

If I am not gaming online I may download a PSN title or watch a downloadable movie, something I can also do with my LIVE silver account. Great little thing to have around when a time like that comes.

When you ask me a question like "Which has a better online experience?" I am going to go with the free one and NO it is not my inability to afford it that keeps me from thinking LIVE is better, like one user here mentioned, acting like that is why we use that as a reason. I just don't feel like it is worth it. If I am never going to use those extra bells and whistles I need to sit back, look at how I game online and say to myself "Why should I pay for this when I can do it for free on my PS3?"

There are many others who CAN afford it who feel the same way I do.

^ I could care less which one someone thinks is better. I am just giving a point of view from someone in my position and I just think for anyone to respond to a post like mine with lists of features they already know I wouldn't use just aggravates me because I don't give a damn about those features and they know that.

It is just people acting like my opinion based on my own gaming habits is wrong and I hate people like that.

I don't really see where anyone came after you Euphoria, or am I missing a post or something.

@Jagged

It isn't me necessarily. It is from me reading through a thread and seeing many opinions that almost entirely mimic mine and seeing people counter those opinions and try to say they are wrong.

I was trying more for a speaking on behalf of those with my view point kind of post.

I could have worded it better, but it isn't easy when you are feeding a baby and trying to type on a forum.

poor psn, the amount of hate is something else. As someone on here said before, XBL is a paid for service and psn is not yet people are surprised/boasting/bragging that xbl is better? Why?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

(!! this is not an attack !!)

But isen't that the "problem". I may be wrong but the topic is about which online service is better, not "which one do you like the most according to your needs".

It's not a matter of use but rather features, like voice chat, Home, demos for all arcade games, dedicated server...

Right now, I think the Live is still above and moving in the right direction (social networking, free games...), minus those damn ads.

^ Which one is "better" is entirely subjective in my opinion.

People are naming things like Cross game chat which from what I read (correct me if I am wrong) is that if I am talking to you over cross game chat I am not able to chat with people on my team in whatever online game I am playing.

So in that case I don't know if it means much for the "Better online" argument. Once again though, entirely subjective.

People mention Netflix, which I admit getting LIVE for on two occasions just to check out, but wasn't thrilled that I couldn't view the titles from my 360 and still needed my PC. They could be changing this in the next update but as of now I wasn't very impressed.

What that does though for my gaming online experience I have no clue.

Same goes for the Twitter arguments, Last.FM, Facebook, etc...

First is available on PS3 through the web browser, second can't be used during gameplay and third once again is available with the PS3 browser. None of which add anything to my online gaming experience.

When I look at an online service I look at just me being able to play with people on my friends list or just joining up with any group of random strangers. Both of which I can do with my PS3. That is what I have always used an online service for, none of these bells and whistles that uite honestly, not many people really use.

Yeah on paper one can say "This one has this and this and this and that" but when it comes down the nitty gritty and we just talk about the ability to connect online and game with other people I just do not see how "superior" one is than the other, especially when it comes to warranting me to drop $40+ on it when someone like me would rather get a new game instead. Sometimes 2-3 when Bestbuy has 360 games for cheap.

I guess people's interpretation of online gaming is different, but for me anything outside of playing online with people and being able to chat or text (which I don't use anyways) with them as I play the same game with them is completely irrelevant.

Right. LIVE is better in YOUR OPINION. The "problem" is, people post in absolutes and that's what he's getting at. It's irrelevant if you, or I think LIVE is better, he prefers PSN, which is why this is all opinionated.

My God, I can't believe I've had to post this so many times.

I think Cryoakira is right...It's not about Opinion...It's about Features...Live has features PSN has yet to implement...And PSN taxes DLC...Plus it cost 3rd parties money to support it...

@Zizzla_ratchet

360 plays games, plays DVDs, has LIVE.

PS3 plays games, plays DVDs, plays BluRays, has internet browser, has PSN.

PS3 must be better right?

See where I am going with this?

I explained my situation perfectly. If we are just talking "better online" in terms of just gaming, LIVE doesn't offer much more than PSN. Netflix has nothing to do with online gaming, neither does Facebook, Last.FM, Twitter, etc...

It is all opinion. If you think LIVE is better because of features that have zero to do with actual online gaming go ahead and claim it as better, I don't care. If you feel it is worth your money go ahead.

I am looking at this as "Online gaming experience vs. Online gaming experience". Majority of the features listed in this thread do not fit that criteria.

This goes for both sides.
