Forums - Sony Discussion - Is 2008 REALLY Sony's year?

Eh, this thread is just begging for flames. I'm locking it.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well I must say without releasing any anger, you people are insane to think that the wii has better games in 2008 than the ps3 or the 360 for that matter.

Bias...

No you thinking animal crossing is better than LBP is biased.

The ps3 has the worst lineup for me by a clear margin, and lol at comparing LBP to animal crossing.... well, you were the one who was willing to bet that Heavenly "77k" Sword would outsell mario galaxy.

That isnt lifetime sales for heavenly sword, I'm pretty sure thats first week sales and considering that it was released with 3 days left in the week it is very good.

@ S-L-I-P

Your post is so contradictory. You said there is no proof for an 09 delay, yet you say sony has the biggest line-up without any proof. You have no idea what the other's line-up is.

Can you please stop repeating yourself? Read my above post.

"Please, all of you: Do not forget there will be more games announced on every console.

Especially Nintendo keeps it´s games secret as long as possible. Some Nintendo IP´s will be released next year without a doubt.

The same goes for Sony and Microsoft, not all 2008 games are announced yet.

You cannot say "Sony does infact have the biggest line up 2008" or something. You can´t decide for the other gamers. There is no biggest line up as everyone likes his or her own games.

I now nobody will read this as that´s always the case with my posts but it is still true.

You can just argue about which line up will sell more consoles (is Wii Fit going to sell more consoles than Final Fantasy XIII or not?) but you cannot take your personal preferences and make them a fact.

Damn, grow up people..."

That is true, but people won't understand that. Personally the line-up Sony has is more appealing to me, although the Wii has a very interesting line-up too.

I´m sorry if my comment sounded like I tried to insult you or something. It was more a general statement, I know it is hard to stay neutral if everyone gives their personal opinion. And you just gave your oppinion which is okay of course.

On Topic: In all honesty, up to this point I like Sony´s 2008 line-up best. But as soon as Nintendo announces Pikmin 3 for 2008 they can cancel all other games and I would still say they have the best line-up in 2008. Pikmin is a great series, especially the second game. Just nobody cares about it.

So if anyone owns a Wii or a Gamecube and hasn´t played Pikmin 2 yet: Give it a chance, it really is a great game. It has great graphics, nice humor, fantastic gameplay, a funny story, replay-value and the multiplayer is much more fun than you´d expect. Or in one sentence: This game rocks!

Disaster day of crisis, Wii Fit, Tales of, Samba de amigo, Red Steel 2, No more heroes, Mario kart, Monster Lab, We Love golf, Oboro Muramasa, King's story, Animal Crossing, Wii Music, Chocobo's dungeon, Dragon quest swords, Endless Ocean, Mushroom Men, A new beginning, Worms... and of course, Sadness= wii games

Im going to blow you away because I got mad :D

Soriku, calm down, you're not convincing anyone with this attitude.

Sony has been pushing 2008 because of a lackluster 2007 lineup. MS and Nintendo have been pushing their 2007 lineup because they each offer a great one. Why show your cards for next year if you still have cards to play this year?

In this aspect, it's like playing a card game where you can see part of your opponent's hands. Sony's show cards are easily the best, and they're trying to raise the bet with them. But at this point we don't know what the hidden cards are for anyone, and those cards could be a massive thorn in Sony's side.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Before the PS3 and XBox 360 were released, how many people payed more than $300 for a console?
Before the PS3 and XBox 360 were released, how many people payed more than $200 for a console?

By quite a wide margin the majority of console purchases in the last generation (Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube and XBox) were made when the systems were $200 or less; there are reasons to believe that people are willing to pay a little more this generation (due to inflation) but the limit is probably around $50 more than they have previously spent. There is lots of competition in this sub $250 category (Gameboy Advance, PS2, PSP, Wii, Nintendo DS, Gamecube and XBox) and YTD this category accounts for 80% of hardware sales, and 66% of home console sales.

In 2008 the PS3 will remain out of reach of (at least) 2/3 of gamers and will have some pretty stiff competition from the XBox 360 for the other 1/3 of customers; if the overall economy remains strong the PS3 and XBox 360 will have 'decent' sales but they will be at greatest risk of losing sales in the case of an economic slow down.

The line-up of the PS3 in 2008 is very strong but one has to consider Microsoft and Nintendo's 2008 line-ups as well. The second half of 2007 for the Wii is probably one of the best line-ups Nintendo has had (in terms of both quality and quantity) since the SNES; there is reason to believe that 2008 will be a much better year overall for the Wii than 2007 was. At the same time the XBox 360 has had a very good year of releasing titles which apeal to that top 1/3 of gamers which Sony is currently fighting for, and in 2008 will likely share many of the best games that are on the PS3.
