Makes sense I guess. They chose to go for lightness / size (clearly a design goal given overall the thing is much smaller / lighter than current PSP) vs duration of play. Whether this was the better commercial choice remains to be seen.
Personally, I'd have taken a slightly heavier device to get another couple of hours playtime.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
lol considering that there won't be UMD drive and there is smaller screen it should be longer than that.
The hardware engineers likely dropped the size and maHs of the battery to match the reduced power consumption of the smaller backlight/LCD panel and no UMD drive.
When the final specs are out I expect to see the maH rating significantly lower than the standard PSP battery.
So about the only thing SCE didn't shrink down with the Go was the price.
I guarantee we'll be seeing aftermarket clip on batteries for it though.

My chill pill isn't a joke I really think you shouldn't be so angry at me for stating my thoughts. Seriously... It's annoying. And yes the attitude you give me makes me believe you are a Sony or at the least, A PSP Go lover, as you won't accept other people's opinions about it and attack them for that.
I'm not here to bash because this is my opinion. I have a PSP 2000 and like it a lot but I don't think for people who own a older model that it's worth paying this much for the GO as it has little to no advantages, IMO.
And this might be a case of someone angry who can't accept faults of the PSP Go... I can play this game as well, if you want so. Stop picking on me for my opinions.
^ Again, you repeat the same statements, when all we are talking about is a friggin batterie. And you accusing of me of being a "Sony fanboy" is further proof you just want to flame. I'll stop but next time back up what you say instead of throwing insults around.
I'm repeating my points because you don't seem to understand them. I was stating all those things as my opinions and not as fact. How hard is this to understand? I don't need to justify my thoughts on this subject. *Sigh~*
And yes I know you're all talking about the battery, it's just most people thought with the removal of the UMD, the battery life would have been greatly expanded. It would have been a factor that would have made some people (who already own any previous PSP) buy the PSP Go.
Are you guys still moaning about battery life and lack of UMD? It's time to get over it.
As a PSP owner (1000 and 3000) battery life is pretty damn good. I also have a charger in my car (which came with the GPS system) and 1 at home. I always run my battery to flat to keep it healthy, and it lasts for days.
If you don't like the lack of UMD option, get a 3000! it still going to be there, and that has the benefit of the awesome larger screen.
And if you are still not happy, don't get one!
For me, as long as i can get it for under £200 i'll be there because it has the improvements i would like for the PSP - greater portability, reduced weight and reduced size.
