We had this thread a few weeks ago...
Milked suggests its being repeated solely for money. Guitar Hero is the winner. Every other series of games, like Mario, at least attempts to maintain some semblance of creative expression.

Lately: Final Fantasy we got XIII, XIII versus and XIV supposedly coming out next year, then re-releases of almost every installment (VII available online just last week).
I like FF, but I wouldn't like FF brand soup. A well designed and entertaining game (regardless of platform) every 3 years or so seems like a good balance to me.
