Yes being a "legit" website/magazine makes you better at rating entertainment value than less known publications....um no.

Personally i think as fun as wii sports is, its missing vital component.
Great story line, great substance, personally a game needs all the above, wii sports doesnt have that hence the 76 rating.

Do you think Tetris is a bad game? Or any game made before 1990 for that matter? Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Pitfall, Q*Bert, everything? Some games need a story because that was part of their goal during development. Tetris wouldn't be better with a story. If anybody has a story that would make Tetris more compelling, please let me know. I'll e-mail it to Alexei Pajitnov immediately.

Exactly. No matter what your criteria are, you'd have to be pretty nuts to call Tetris a bad game. It transcends the genre, the formula, and the time period. It will never go bad.
So how did games evolve? Because several critics and gamers alike will still say Super Mario Bros. 3 is the greatest game ever made. I can't make up my mind, and have several other all-time favorites, but I know I'll be playing SMB3 for the rest of my life. There are a few games like this every generation. They're never gonna go bad.
Well i do not really se the point in trusting metacritic, since Metascore does not reflect the quality of the game. I do not really see why people care so much about scores, and how big is the difference in quality beetween so called AAA 90% and 89% game?

How could that ever work? Too much thinking required for most people. 'LOLZ this gaem suxxorz look at its score' is easier.
As has been mentioned above, I really don't give a damn about the numbers/letters provided. I will read some reviews and see what they think is good and bad in a certain game. I will then make up my mind or read more if I'm not convinced.
I mean how do you decide if you should give a game a 90 or an 89?

Metacritics have a dominance of us reviews. It only gives you a clue if you think and have the same opinion of the masses in us.
Just look at the reviews of A Clockwork orange. A movie misunderstood in us (maybe because of excactly the reviews), but praised in the rest of the world.
And the reviews of gta iv is hilarious.
