To clearify sth for OP, the first picture is the latest leaked one for the rumoured slim PS3, another picture is an old one which shows the PS3 manufacture in China.
The aim of the comparsion is to show people that...yeah, the environment is similar, and a faker won't take it into consideration!
So it's highly possible that it's true.

I, for one, would be much more motivated to purchase a PS3 if it's slimmed down and cheaper. However, it'd need to get cheaper than $300 for me to move on it. I already have ten+ gaming consoles (and a number of handhelds), including the Wii, 360, and a PS2. I don't need another unless it's affordable, saves space, and it would be nice if it was backwards compatible so I could eliminate one of my current consoles.

I gave my reasons for thinking it could be true.  I wrote out a detailed explanation.  And, I didn't even say that it is true, I said I'm 'leaning towards it being true'.  The opposite(s) are saying 'it's obviously a fake' without giving any kind of reasoning or explanation as to why.

If you'd like to explain as well as I did why you think they're fake or this isn't true, by all means - the stage is yours.  Otherwise, you're simply wrong.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

If it is real then fine... I ma even pick another up... but I happen to think it could cost them more than staying as they are in the long run. Its nothing to do with the images themselves.. more the logic of introducing a slim at this early stage - it just doesnt make sense to me.

 

 They have been loosing money for a while now.... it makes sence that they would want to do something drastic... this will not save them a lot on each console... but it will increase the sales which in term will give better sales of their software, PSN purchases, bluray movies and so on.... so you wont save much per console but you will save a lot more by selling a lot more....

not low enough for me

as far as games its got that arent on 360, only one i care about is KZ2

when i see a used ps3 for less than 2 bills, there we go

i think people are in a dream world thinking that a price drop for a system that boasts a more expensive blu ray than you can buy now, and a bunch of poor selling games, is gonna become a fad over 100 bucks.

13,000,000 consoles sold (their own prediction) at a loss of $100 is $1.3bn loss, even half of that is terrible. That will not be made up from game sale royalties. no chance.

there goes ur asuming again... you dont know if they will be loosing money, neather do i ... Sony made some mistakes in the past couple of years... i doubt they havent learned from em... if they release this model i refuse to believe that it will sold for a loss.... again.... and even if it is... the software sales will go up... PSN sales will go up.... shipping costs will go down and so on and so forth... so if they actually start making a profit on each console sold... they will be back in the green by end of next year....
