First BioShock 2 Multiplayer Details

2K signs on Digital Extremes.

May 8, 2009 - 2K Games has announced that it has signed on Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer game for BioShock 2. The group is said to be working closely with 2K Marin, the team responsible for the single player game, in the effort to develop a "substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock Universe."

The multiplayer game will take place during the fall of Rapture as players take on the role of Plasmid test subjects for Sinclair Solutions. This game will reportedly expand the BioShock fiction and reveal more about the fall of Rapture.

As far as gameplay goes, little has been revealed aside from a leveling system. Experience points will be earned during matches that will give players access to new weapons, Plasmids and Tonics. Locations will include the Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, built from the ground up specifically for multiplayer.

Seeing as you have obviously played it, please... tell me what you do in it?

I was really dissapointed with the inclusion of multiplayer but this seems pretty cool

I really expect this game to live up to Bioshock

Not cool...

In other news, I'm glad another developer is putting together the multiplayer. I want an amazing SP experience again.

ALRIGHT! Digital Extremes co-developed UT, UT2003, and UT2004. They didn't have anything to do with UTIII and that game was utter shit, not that UT2003 wasn't a lil lackluster but they more than redeemed themselves with UT2004.

I'm not really sure how to feel about this. The idea of playing online and using plasmids sounds great, but I'm not really sure if multiplayer will work well with this game. Also, the UT games were great but DE's attempt with Dark Sector was very lackluster. Either way I'm hyped for this game as I loved the last one, but it still needs to prove to me that it can be anywhere near as amazing and fresh as the first.

PS3 Trophies

Next up, MORE games in the Bioshock universe:
* SimRapture: You can play Ryan as he attempts to construct his universe under the sea, complete with disasters, political infighting between factions, and other mayhem.
* Bioshock RTS: Bioshock as an RTS game.
* Bioshock Tower Defense: After Bioshock as an RTS is shown to have problems on consoles, they decide to make it a simple tower defense game. The world can't get enough of tower defense (or an RTS where you can't launch attacks).
* BioSims: It is like the Sims, but set in the world of Bioshock.
* BioShock Sub Racing: Get to race mini-subs set in the Bioshock universe.
* BioShock Puzzle Quest: Bioshock reduced to the game where you hack the dispenser machines.
* BioXtreme Games: Features a bunch of mini-games inspired by the Bioshock universe. Rumor is that Team Ninja will be working on it to test out a new modeling for characters. Expect a LOT of bouncing cleavage. See the Big Sister BEFORE she became like a Big Daddy.
* BS-Type: BioShock become a side scrolling underwater shooter in the vein of In the Hunt. It was create to answer the complaints about Bioshock Tower Defense not having enough offense.

The possibilities are endless here!
