Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sega responds to fans: Dream Cast 2

Sega's official twitter(the overrated media blog thing)was something I have been looking at recently, and it seems a fan told SEGA to bring a new dreamcast now that the playstation was at a different state compared to 1999, and they responded with:

" I know how much you guys would want it, but no DC2, we are a third party software company, we are never coming back to the hardware market"

It wouldn't make a difference anymore. The people that pushed out hot game after hot game are no longer there. Sega would not be able to support a new console with even remotely the same quantity of quality software as they used to. A lot of their great games came as arcade ports, and Sega isn't making much in arcades any longer. It's best that Sega went out with a bang, giving us all quite possibly the best 18 months of gaming any console could have hoped to give, and plenty of innovations for the industry to boot.

They wouldn't come back regardless. Console gaming is a tricky business. It's not easy to get it to happen, and Sega's executives were never on the same page about anything. Even two out of three of the current console makers don't know shit about being profitable doing it.

Also fuck twitter is so utterly stupid.

SEGA had way too many financial failures.

32x, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast.......

They should stick to software only, and for good reason.

"I don't have time to play video games anymore, but if I did, I would definitely choose the PlayStation 3 instead of the 360" - President Barack Obama

never say never Sega... and Leo-J, get the name right for f^%%'s sake, it's Dreamcast, not Dream Cast.

This saddens me.

Isn't this just Sega of America and not Sega of Japan?
