You kidding me? Nintendo is the ONLY one who CAN make good platformers without their characters getting killed in 10 years.

Crash Bandicoot- ruined after Crash Of the titans

Sonic-ruined after SEGA going out of hardware buisness

Mario-Still alive

Sonic was not ruined from going out of the hardware business, over 75% of the sonic team left.

Crash Bandicoot was always developed by naughty dog and was amazing, then they traded it to almost 4 other companies. Everytime a development team changes the game is ruined. Final Fantasy and games like it are exceptions since each one in the series is different.

Mario also had his share of absolute gardbage, only the really big releases are good for mario. Hotel Mario, Mario and Sonic olympics and others.

Somewhere along the line the Sonic team forgot what was good. Even there newest game, the werehog one had good platforming sections. It's like they got it right! Until a minute and a half is over and your this stupid fucking werehog with god awful controls. They don't understand they can keep it 2d and make it good graphically and similiar to LBP but with fast paced platforming.

 LBP IS 2D?

Crash Bandicoot's good game was Crash Twinsanity, and it was made by the same team who made Crash Of The Titans. But Crash was always a platformer or racer and in Crash of the titans they ruined it by changing the game in some action game for kids.

Mario had some share of absolute garbage, but that didn't stop them to sell good.

Little big planet is psuedo 3-d, as in it is in a 2d perspective, but it's made of 3d objects. You still only have 2 planes which to move on, up and down, and left and right. There is no depth. There is an illussion of depth in little big planet since you can jump between 3 z cords, but basic mechanic is still 2d. Sonic can be done this way, 2d perspective, easier to give illusion of speed, and also you can make it look great still. It would be made of 3d objects, you could even change the perspective, but there would still only be 2 planes to move on.

If you want to see something, the makes of the original sonic games, the people who directed it, are now in naughty dog, original director for sonic through to dreamcast made jak 2 and 3, and uncharted.

Most of the sonic team left, same with crash, naughty dog made crash then gave it away. The new team can make a good game, but rarely happens. New teams are so adapt to change, which is a double edged sword and mostly turns the game into absolute garbage because they don't understand why people loved the game.

People will also make up excuses for mario, saying hotel mario is not a real mario, same with the CDI zeldas. But they are. If you are to say sonic sucks now what changed, same other series, because the teams changed, why can't you for hotel mario, different team... Still mario.

I think they will, they have great developers.

Uh...Hotel Mario wasn't just a different team. It was a different developer entirely. This is completely different from a shift in Sonic Team, it's still Sonic Team under Sega and most teams shift new blood in and out. This is also different from Spyro or Crash's case, since they were shipped off to developers who have completely changed these franchises and have full creative control over their futures. Hotel Mario was a one time deal with Philips, a game made entirely independently from Nintendo and one that is barely a platformer to begin with. So in a thread about great Nintendo platformers, you bring up a non-Nintendo non-platform Mario game from 15 years ago that has had absolutely no impact on subsequent Mario titles. Good job!

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I think they can. They have consistently made good platformers since the days of the NES, so I have no reason to doubt them.

All of Nintendos platformers have at least been "good", while almost all of them can be considered great, so yes they will continue.

Doesn't matter. They owned the rights, given to them by nintendo. Crash bandicoot isn't made by same developer anymore, not even same team, is it somehow absolved from the shit that it is now?

Mario and Sonic olympics, a lot of mario parties are shit, marios time machine, wreaking crew, mario tennis(virtual boy),  and some others.

Also, games not made by marios developers influenced mario more then anything. The english version of super mario bros 2 is actually a different game, called doki doki panic, and considered not canon at all at the time. Because all they did was change main sprites nothing else. Then nintendo comes and takes all these things and includes them in future mario games.

I thought this thread was about platformers?

And Doki Doki Panic was developed by Miyamoto.

The question was "Do you think that Nintendo can keep making great platformers?"

You then named a game that was not made by Nintendo.

Claude called you out on it.

Now you are trying to claim it doesn't matter?  I call BS.  What other developers do has no bearing on the quality of Nintendo developed games.

So? Still not a mario title.
