Forums - Sony Discussion - PSN STORE (NA) TO GET METAL GEAR SOLID, RESIDENT EVIL, AND FF7 PS1 GAMES!!!

Can we finally drop the FF7 remake rumours if this is true? It makes no sense to release a downloadable version, then to remake it

DISCUSS AND WHOSE PUMPED!!

Outside of an RPG like Final Fantasy VII, I don't see too many other games on the original Playstation aging well at all.  So, it seems hard to get pumped up for them.  Because of this not aging well, that is why "Riiiidge Racer" ends up being a joke comment, rather than something to get excited about.

Sorry to piss in everyone's Cheerios here, but I'm not seeing anything other than some dude asking us to trust him. The biggest question I would have is are these going to be exclusive to the PSN? Remember that Castlevania SOTN is a PS1 classic that is on both PSN and XBOX Live.

FF7 = sony owns the publishing rights.

metal gear solid: unless the port of the GC will stay on the PSN the PS1 version.

hmm and resident evil depends on capcom

Not true.  The original contract called for"Right of first refusual".

Which is very different.

Right of first refusal (ROFR or RFR) is a contractual right that gives its holder the option to enter a business transaction with the owner of something, according to specified terms, before the owner is entitled to enter into that transaction with a third party.

Example:

  • ROFR: Abe owns a house that he plans to sell to Bo for $1 million. However, Carl holds a right of first refusal to purchase the house. Therefore, before Abe can sell the house to Bo, he must first offer it to Carl for $1 million. If Carl accepts, he buys the house instead of Bo. If Carl declines, Bo may now buy the house at the proposed $1 million price.

Note Sony already once declined to publish FF7.  When it came out for PC and Eidos published it.  Also Square published the game themselves in Japan.

Eidos is now owned by Square Enix....

Square Enix could easily have sold Sony the rights...Not to mention, it's already on the Japanese store...right?

If they sold the rights to Sony already then FF7 characters wouldn't have appeared in KH: CoM for GBA. They haven't sold anything.

/end

publishing rights it's for the game itself,  like publishers pick its wants console exclusity in the region or let other port it.

not the characters, square owns the characters,  but then game like crisis core are on playstation consoles.

this doesn't discard it not appearing on other consoles, but does confirm a PSN version may be comming since the sony have publisher rights and it already appear on the japanese PSN.

I would buy FF7, but I'd hope it upscales to at least 720p. Does anyone know if the FF7 on the Japan Store upscales to HD proportions?

damb this will be sick this happens saves me 200or more dollars for FF7 on ebay. lol

I'd like more PS1 Classics in general, maybe a FFVIII that works on my 60GB PAL PS3. But I remember reading a leaked list of games once nearly a year ago and Omega Boost was on it...I'm still waiting for it and infact got impatient and bought it from eBay.

Hmm, pie.

I cant wait
