FinalFantasyX(PS2):That game got me so involved i played for like 2days straight(with 6hours sleep in the middle)and almost made me cry thats how much i got into that game I could tell you the story of this without playing it right now.
ChronoTrigger(SNES):The story is so good it pulls you in instantly anyone who doesnt get the story shouldnt be playing the game because otherwise you wont know where to go next.
The Onimusha Series:I could tell you what happened without even playing them again right now aswell and its a series that grabbed me and i hope they make another.

A lot of games I was gonna mention have all been said already (Starfox 64, Zelda 64, FFX, etc.). So I'm going to throw one in I'm a little bit afraid to admit ...
Pokemon R/B! I don't think I've ever been so addicted to trying to catch and raise all those little critters. I remember battling friends and being proud of how strong my Pokemon grew up to be ... especially you, Charmander *a tear* ... so lame :(
I don't care what anyone says about Pokemon, but that was a great game.

Final Fantasy VI

Where to start...I had been gaming since I was in the area of 4-6 starting on our old PCJr with games like King's Quest I and Jumpman and moved to consoles when the NES came out. Up until FFVI I loved games and loved playing them but FFVI was the thing that got me interested in gaming and ultimately making them.

I remember getting that game and instantly just becoming absolutely enthralled. It's hard for an RPG to catch your attention straight from the beginning and FFVI just did a wonderful job the entire way. I remember daydreaming about the serpent trench, remember trying to get Sabin's Blitz's right, and the awesomeness that was your party splitting into three!

And then came the opera house. Up until that point I never experienced a lot of emotion in games but the music and the scene was just amazing. I remember playing that part over and over again because it was just so amazing. I just had never experienced anything like that.

And then I got to the floating island. I thought I was at the end of the game and I was all prepared for finally finishing what was an awesome game. If the game had ended on the floating island, this game would still be on my top games list, but it just got better. You fight your way through the island, beat Atma, and then get to Kefka and Ghestal. After a great scene, the world ends and you wake up alone.

And then it still got better. Who can honestly say they played the solitary island without at the very least coming close to crying? (see the scene here)? That game just did so much with so little. Ugh, I still get goosebumps thinking about that scene.

FFVI expressed more emotion than its simple (by todays standards) sprite graphics than I've experienced in almost every game I've played in the last 10 years. That game was just one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had and just made me so much more interested in gaming. In fact, I'm going to go dig up FFVI Advance.

I agree with all that. Tactics Ogre comes close to me too because they actually never make you feel like a jerk even when you choose to do just about the worst possible thing and the whole subject matter is great. I know i'm missing another game here but i can't think of what it is right now.

- Final Fantasy X/X-2
- BioShock
- Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Animal Crossing

Currently playing:
Wii: MySims | Xbox360: Halo3 / Pac-Man C.E | DS: Scurge | PSP: Ghost in the Shell

"Lesbians, Better then eMail."
~Lanky Man - My Big Fat Independent Movie

Hmmm I'd say I got pretty emotionnal with FFX. It's the game I spend the most time with, I really got attached to the characters and the ending was so amazing, yet sad... I cried.

Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)

and

Ogre Battle 64 (N64)

and

Earthbound (SNES).

Have you played Tactics Ogre?  It's an SNES game that never came out in the US until the Playstation port.  It tells another part of the Zenobian/Lodis conflict.

It's also the game Final Fantasy Tactics was HEAVELY based off of, right down to a lot of the graphics and design characteristics being nearly identical, like the maps, map icons, tutorials, shop screens, character sprites being upgraded tactics ogre style, menu layouts, story to a lesser degree... etc.

The way the characters always move, and their attacks.  Final Fantasy tactics is really 60-70% tactics Ogre 30-40% FF IV.  Or was it V.  The numbering confuses me.

Main point being though, if you loved both of those games you should also love Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle for the SNES/PS1 too actually, though that one isn't as deep in story it does set the groundwork for Ogre Battle 64 and Tactics Ogre.

The GBA Knight of Lodis game sucks though, the story is ok on it, but they kinda ruined the turnbased system by changing the way actions work.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

tomb raider series

boobs are meaningful right?

I am going have to go with
LEFT BEHIND:ETERNAL FORCES
The prelude story was heart wrenching and really wrong home.
I mean who here hasn't woken up in a missionary to find how all of their holy friedns gone and to find that God wants you to kill off the evil minions even though he apparantely left to enjoy all of the squalor of hell on earth. Yes sign me up I nearly shed a tear after watching all the angels carry away the 40 or 50 people in the world who were righteous. But what the best is yet to come I mean who hasn't dreamt at just running around shooting at everyone who disagrees with you well this game really touches that though by even making it less morally ambigous because they are shooting at you. I'll tell you blessing people through the head is a great way to do it why I haven't done it before is beyond me!

errrr....Or how about I just say FF IV(FFVI) the single best game ever with some TRULY touching scenes.

@kasz

You're thinking of V. Also, the lead designer of Tactics Ogre went over to Square to do Final Fantasy Tactics (and Vagrant Story and XII)

I would probably have to say Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, and Gauntlet. Oh, and Donkey Kong as well. They were all pinnacles of my video gaming infancy. Plus, that Adventure game on the 2600. Was it called adventure? Or dungeon... something like that lol.

Just kiss the tip.
