Have you played Tactics Ogre? It's an SNES game that never came out in the US until the Playstation port. It tells another part of the Zenobian/Lodis conflict.
It's also the game Final Fantasy Tactics was HEAVELY based off of, right down to a lot of the graphics and design characteristics being nearly identical, like the maps, map icons, tutorials, shop screens, character sprites being upgraded tactics ogre style, menu layouts, story to a lesser degree... etc.
The way the characters always move, and their attacks. Final Fantasy tactics is really 60-70% tactics Ogre 30-40% FF IV. Or was it V. The numbering confuses me.
Main point being though, if you loved both of those games you should also love Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle for the SNES/PS1 too actually, though that one isn't as deep in story it does set the groundwork for Ogre Battle 64 and Tactics Ogre.
The GBA Knight of Lodis game sucks though, the story is ok on it, but they kinda ruined the turnbased system by changing the way actions work.
