If the record is tied to revenue then how many more copies than Halo 3 would have to be sold if ODST is cheaper due to being an expansion. When you consider this possibility it's impossible imo.

And I'm not doubting that it will sell under 2 million first week. In fact, that is my prediction.

I think anyone who thinks that a 7 hour budget Halo game with no Master Chief can sell 4 million units (opening week) is off their rocker.

I predict 5.5 million lifetime, as well.

I never said it WILL beat Halo 3. I simply said is it possible.

Will every Halo3 owner purchase ODST ?

and personally I don't actually think it will push more units either. More in the range of anywhere between 2-2.5 million however under the right circumstances considering pricing, marketing, and overall quality of the game I'm not going to outright call it an impossibility.

Depends, what price will the game ship at? Less than $60 and the game will get no where near the advertising Halo 3 got so it depends. Either way 2.5 million first week at worst.
