Presently, worldwide, nope. In the past, yes. But with that said, it depends about where you're talking about. GT is definitely more popular in Japan and probably even in Europe (close). But overall, no because it is so lopsided because of the US.

the main markets for:
HALO = US
GT = EU and JP

so GT is much more popular but if you continue to look on the 1st week sales of Halo 3
i think Halo 3 is popular...hehehehe...

but looking at the franchise itself GT is more popular than Halo!

Not very well, I don't think anyway has claimed Halo has any presence in Japan though.

GT - Others (somewhat Japan)

Halo - America

Halo 3 will settle anywhere between 12 - 14 million by the end of this gen .. All people have to go on is GT5P and just because that did well doesn't mean the full game will sell 4X that.

Halo this generation outsold the last gen Halo games, same for Mario Kart, GT5 has not yet released and people writing it off it nothing short or stupid, had another word but would probably get banned. :(
