Hd movies don't take that long if you can find a good place to get them.

It would be interesting to see stats for Marketplace, say average speed and time/dl.

well 800 mb demos take bout 6 mins for me. 8mb broadband

I dunno micro-transactions and downloadable content. I think the day they stop boxing videogames all together is the day I stop playing. Having downloadable content and extra games is fine but there's some things I just want to physically own. I like having the boxes of certain big games, the art work the manuals the CD's I enjoy being able to keep them even after I move onto the next gen. If everythings downloaded once the systems out of support and they no longer repair it.. I'm screwed I have lost it completely I don't like that idea.

At the same time I think Holographic disks or Protein Coated Disks will wipe out Blue Ray and HD-DVD in fairly short order. even at it's theoretically max, Blue ray holds a fraction of PCD's single layer(50TB) And these disks are already produced they're just not in mass production just yet.

My sister has been dling HD stuff for about a year now as well (not a joke). They are indeed legal if you go through a legal service. She gets stuff like tv shows and new movies the day they are released. There are plenty of legit sites and yes a 2 hour movie in HD xvid is only about 1 gig large. Most of the country can dl that in a matter of hours but you can start watching it about 30 minutes into the download and enjoy the show while it streams assuming streamable container format (wmf) which is what her service uses.

The highest in my area is 50Mb/s, but you have to be seriously rich for that. I personally have 20Mb/s for $30/month (before any taxes) but that was a special promotion. Come next year i'll be downgrading to 10Mb/s for the same price (unless they run another promotion). You can't really go any cheaper for broadband in my area unless you want like <1Mb/s

20 Mb/s? 6 Mb/s is pretty much the highest you can get around here.
