PS3 is doing so well in japan at the moment compared to its performance even a single year ago...good job sony

Actually the first three months of PS3 sales in Japan have been nearly identical in 2008 & 2009

2008: 347,611

2009: 350,601

Less than a 1% increase.

The difference is that in early 2008 Wii had Brawl and Wii Fit to perk up demand, and Wii had a much stronger 2007 holiday so demand/supply was still balancing out. Its a bit different this year (again first three months of each year):

2008: 1,069,039

2009: 412,361

Nearly a sixty percent drop.

Monster Hunter G should debut to at least 50,000 and probably 75,000+ for Wii which (given that it has a demo of Monster Hunter 3) should insure Wii sales for Apr-June are higher (400k+) than they would have been other wise (320k).

I wrote about all this in the article on the front page if your interested in seeing the dips/rises for 2007-2009 visually.

Don't expect Wii Sports Resort to push hardware..

Anyone who was interested in Wii Sports in Japan already owns a Wii.

Predictions.

1. Wii will never reach 50% market share.

2. Kz2 will sell 1.3 first week 3.5 LT.
Sales predictions for 09.

Wii - 69 - 72
PS3 - 32 - 34
X360 - 39 - 41

+1 plus monster hunter g is a port of a psp game.  Monster hunter tends to sell better on hand helds than consoles so the jury is still out whether monster hunter g will be a 3 million plus software sales giant on the wii like it was on the psp.  Also it also depends on if monster hunter 3 will have the same impact as well.

now what sony needs to do is to drop the price atleast 50 bucks to mantain this small lead

Monster Hunter for Wii wont be nearly as big as it is on PSP but it will bring in a new audience, and thats the significant part of it for Nintendo.

In Japan, PS3 will outsold Wii on 2009, 2010, 2011 and so on.

Believe it.

I remember everyone said that just before Halo 3 released.  Boy were we wrong.

We went through this with RPG numerous times, but...

No one is expecting Monster Hunter 3 to post Monster Hunter Freedom PSP numbers at all.  But I am personally expecting it to give the Wii a nice hardware boost AND be the best selling console Moster Hunter game.
