Wii purchase limit policy

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-RVLSWCUSZ-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ/ref=pd_ts_vg_1/105-0034090-3717249?ie=UTF8&s=videogames

The Wii is in great demand, and thus there are shortages of this product across the U.S. In order to ensure that as many customers as possible have the ability to purchase this popular item, Amazon.com is limiting customer purchases of the Wii to 3 units per calendar month. This policy will be effective beginning September 4, 2007.

It's been almost 10 moth and they tell us the wii is in great demand right now??? it looks that the demands is getting higher and higher (saw this week's numbers). It looks that it's gonna be impossible to get a wii via Amazon......

Actually this might make it easier. They're trying to curb some of the ebay flipping.

I've never seen Amazon do this before.

maybe it'll take people longer than 5 minutes for amazon to run out of stock every time it's listed in stock.

amazon is the cheapest place to get a wii... no tax, no shipping. $250, period.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Its mostly cause assholes buy the entire Wii stock in one purchase the sell them back on Ebay or their seller sites for 400-500 bux. and they would continue to do it if amazon didn't put this new rule into effect. the new rule will slow thoes Ebayer's down but i suspect they will just buy three consoles from different account's if they are smart.

That should get more Wiis into people's hands.

They could quickly make a port of Lair to the Wii that should bring demand down!

^^^smartass =p

What are they going to have 3 different shipping/billing adresses too?  If amazon is smart about it, it should be hard for them to circumvent the policy without a great deal of effort.  And when you limit the quantity of units they will be able to move it may become unworth it altogether for them.

Lets hope anyways...
