PS1, quite easily.
Not to diminish the N64's quality, I enjoyed my fair share of Super Smash Bros. tournaments, that's for sure.
Tough call. Both platforms had good libraries, with the PS1 earning a distinct edge on software.
In the end, I'm going to call it for N64 for having force feedback, the analog thumbstick, and four (FOUR!) controller ports.

N64 by a mile, so many great 4 player games! It took Sony 10 years after N64 for them to come out with a console that supports 4 player w/o having to get an adapter.
