Forums - Sony Discussion - Can God of War III get away with being similar to its predecessors?

The recently linked God of War III footage looked nearly identical to God of War II, with the slight change of the controllable monsters. However, the fundamental gameplay is still pretty much indentical to the first game.

So, do you think that this series is going to be able to still sell well despite being very similar to its predecessors? For me, the original gameplay is so good there is no need to change it

its ok

I'm not sure. I was dissapointed in devil may cry. It really depends on how they execute it. If they manage to make it feel fresh it shouldn't be a problem.

Check out my game about moles ^

Is going to sell like the other two, maybe a little bit more...

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender
"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

If my name is IGN, no.

If my name is SHMUPGurus, I won't care one bit. The first two three (sorry PSP. I won't do it again) God of War games were button mashers, but still, the "epic" feel you have when you play them just makes you forget how dull the combats really are (especially when you get a certain spell and keep abusing the same "head cut" finisher move every time).

I say, bring it on! =P

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Yes and it will ! it has easy controls and people feel like badasses playing as Kratos !

then i might not like it as much.

don't forget that you guys just saw a fight scene in a level of the game.I heard every level moves and has it's own AI.so you environment changes constantly due to the titans moving .that's a major change form previous ones.

we saw 45 sec of gameplay and we already know how the whole game will play

I loved the gameplay of the first two, so yes. But it was the story that really drew me into the series anyway

@ splenda, the fact is that GoW 1, 2 & CoO all played very very similarly, and the little we have seen from this game indicated it will be similar too
