A group of students from the Academy of Notre Dame has begun protesting the violence against dogs seen in the massively popular Call of Duty: World at War.

"Killing dogs as a form of entertainment ... over and over again. That's one of the objects of the game. Parents need to know what they are buying their kids. Killing animals should not be a form of entertainment," said 19-year-old Breanna Lucci, president of the school's Animal Rights Club.

Lucci recently began a petition against this computerized animal murder, which has garnered over 100 signatures from her classmates.

"My little 12-pound Pomeranian, Winnie the Pooh, is sitting next to [my brother, who is playing Call of Duty: World at War], and I'm thinking, 'This looks horrible!' My brother is a sweetheart. He won't be killing dogs after playing. But some people might."

Following that logic, if an animal trained to kill is jumping at your throat while you're holding a gun, you shouldn't defend yourself. Also, note how Lucci doesn't seem to have an issue with shooting the other humans in the game. It makes you wonder where some people's priorities are.

Well there is always the argument that dogs are most definately innocent... shooting other human characters who are shooting at you doesn't seem as immoral.

It's like the difference between shooting a child and shooting someone who is shooting at everyone else.

I haven't played the game, but if the dogs are not attacking the player then it seems more of a "sport" killing than what is basically armed combat (defending yourself)

If the dogs do indeed attack then I would claim these students don't have an argument.

The dogs do attack you, hell they attacked you in COD 4 as well. Vicious bastards they were. She has no argument.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

I've noticed that any story which begins with the words "Students protest" is only going to get more annoying from there.

That guy takes game way too seriously as a dog lover i hate seeing innocent dogs being put down and killed for no reason but because they're artificial and non real animals it doesnt bother me.

We will protest video game violence because protesting people who commit real world violence might anger them and they are scary.

Clearly, killing people in games is way better than killing dogs in games.

I've never played the games, so I don't know what the dogs do, but I can't imagine any developer would give you a shotgun and let you run around some room shooting poor defenseless puppies. I'd imagine that they'd make the dogs evil. And, in a game like CoD, it's kill or be killed.

EDIT: Forgot the last part; CoD is a game anyway, so who cares? Why don't they protest the people who actually beat dogs in real life? Surely that would do more good for the world than this.

killing a virtual dog in a game to save your virtual life is wrong? wtf?

I TOTALLY AGREE

Any cruelty against dogs in ANY medius is intolerable!

Humans are already responsible for the rate of the extinction of species being increased by 1000 times
