Where's The Witcher?
Warhammer Online?
King's Bounty: The Legend?
Lord of the Rings Online?
Mask of the Betrayer?
Space Rangers 2?
Wrath of the Lich King?

terrible list.

Fine, best 5 console RPGs, although you mentioned 2 MMOs, an MMO expansion, a very good but not great WRPG, and three other games which nobody's heard of, so they wouldn't make the list anyway.

Last I heard MMORGPs are still RPGs. And The Witcher was Imo the best RPG of 2007, winning more GOTY awards than Mass Effect.

King's Bounty: The Legend is the best SRPG in years. It has a much better and deeper combat mechanics than Valkyria Chronicles, and has some pretty funny writing to boot.

Mask of the Betrayer has probably the best videogame story in the last 10 years.

Space Rangers 2 is a refreshing RPG experience, with an incredibly diverse gameplay that ranges from turnbased action to text adventure.

1. Mass Effect
2. Fable II
3. Fallout 3
4. Lost Odessey
Cant think of a 5th.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I'm surprised you actually got a chance to play through VC, Shio. You seemed like a PC only guy from the forums.

my list conquers all
5. oblivion
4.enchanted arm
3. mass effect
2. tales of vesperia
1. lost odyssey
and thats the correct answer

I loved the first disc of Lost Odyssey, but they completely dropped the ball after that. It becomes borderline mediocre and never picks up.

Seems they pretty much followed meta rankings to the letter except for the exclusion of Oblivion.

For me personally, I count Persona 4 because I think of generations as spans of time and not really dependent on which consoles the games come out for.

So then you would consider the Final Fantasy VI remake on the GBA a next-generation RPG as well?

I don't consider a game remade during a certain period to be made in that period. Remakes shouldn't qualify for top tens for a given generation in my mind. FFVI will always be a part of the generation during which it was made, and any attempt at looking at it objectively will be too tainted by the memory of what the game was when it was released instead of how it compares to games that release in the current generation.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. There are times were remakes are undeniably of next-generation quality. How would you judge something like Ninja Gaiden Sigma where, although a remake, is clearly up to standard with other next-generation games or Resident Evil 4 Wii, which goes far and neyond anything released in it's previous generation? You can't honestly look at those games and say that they're not of this generation, can you?

Some remakes I can accept as such, but they have to change an incredible amount for me to think they should be counted as a totally different game, and that's what they should be if they are to be counted in this gen in my mind.
