Bayern arnt as good as they have been in the past. They struggle through the bundesliga season. Also they managed to beat sporting lisbon 12-1. Porto cant be much good either because they arnt that far ahead of sporting Lisbon. The Portugese league reminds me of the Scottish league 2 clubs not brilliant. The other clubs as far as im conserned are there to make up the numbers.

Humm, you shouldn't speak about the portuguese league since quite frankly you've just shown how little you know about it when you compared it to the scottish league. There are 3 big clubs here, like im most major leagues in europe, and a few clubs that follow closely to those three. F.C.Porto, Sporting and Benfica are the biggest one. May i remind you that Benfica eliminated liverpool last year in the CL? what scottish team has done that in the past years? Porto has won two CL and benfica has won two CL as well. Once again what scottish team has done that?

Oh and you're comparing those 12-1 sporting suffered to porto? Don't make me laugh. It was the first time that sporting got to the last 16 phase of the CL and only the second time they went to the CL, so they lacked the experience to be there with the biggest clubs in europe. F.C.Porto has been consistently going to the Last 16 and quarter finals of the CL for the past 25 years. We have won one UEFA cup, two CL's, Two intercontinental cup's and one European SuperCup. So once again, what scottish team has done that?

Next time, get your facts straight.

No. Porto had a lot of good player but they left to play in good competitve leagues where they have the expectation of winning the champions league every year. Also my comparison to Scottish football only came about because theres 2 clubs in Scotland with money, a stadium, support, success. I thought that was the case in Portugal? Or does the lower half teams get 20,000 and more every week? Aswell as that Porto havent made big money signings to gain back some good players. Not to my knowledge anyway. Players dont want to play in Portugal. You wont see any top international sign for Porto or any of these great Portugese team. I can only presume its because its a greatly inferior league too Premier League La Liga Bundersliga seria A etc etc

Whoa, what's this talk i'm hearing about porto being easy? Last time i checked, we defeated man united in 2004, and we were the CL champions at that time. You shouldn't understimate anyone just becasue they don't have a team worth a hundred million euros or because they don't play on the top leagues. F.C.Porto has been consistently going to the Last 16 and the Quarter finals of the CL and the only time we went to the UEFA cup we won it.

well it's man utd , those guys win no matter how shitty they play :D

I hope porto wins , I hate man utd I hate them.

In football u don't underestimate anyone, what I'm saying is the possibility man utd wins is 70% -same goes for barca-, but other matches are 50%-50%.

those numbers mean nothing eventually.

Same here i hate Man u and tbh wouldnt you prefer to face Porto over Man u?

sure i would :D

Once again you have your facts mixed up. FCP did lose a lot of it's players after the 2004 CL victory. But never did they once again won another CL cup again. Here in portugal, there are 8 teams which have an assistance average of 19.000 each week, 5 with 25.000 and the top 3 have 40.000. It isn't a lot, but you can't compare the economy of Portugal with other countries in Europe. We don't have much international players coming to portugal because we don't have the money to buy them, not because we are not competitive. FCP porto budget is limited to 40 million euros a year, so we can't afford to buy expensive players, but we manage to build some solid teams with what we get. Even alex ferguson said that porto had a good team and that he likes on of our best players, Hulk. Even then, this year benfica signed some good international players, Aimar and Reyes, which is a rare case here in portugal, but it was a nice change.

The portuguese league may not be the most competitive in Europe, but is a good solid league with some good clubs, you're just not familiar with it's reality. And let us be frank here, which top league in europe has more than a handful of great teams? Premier league can be sumed up in 6 to 7 teams, La liga as well, and bundesliga and serie A have just as much good teams.

la liga and the premier league are getting boring ,
same 4 teams , same 4 teams
2011 can't come faster :D

I would really like to see porto win over Man Und, but i'm a realist, i know that we have a little chance to do so. The reality between both clubs is even more different than it was back at 2004. But one can hope ;)

So your saying that if a portugese club had the ability to offer a player equal wages to what he is on at his current club he would go to portugal? No i dont think so. He would go to Spain or England. Its not all about money its about fame and silverware. I am familiar with its reality. I consider a good team to be a team having the potential to win the champions league. Portuagal have 1. If you through in the 4th best Portugese team they wouldnt have a chance of winnning it. I dont know who they are but anyway. Whearas Valencia arguably the 4th best team in Spain in recent seasons and Liverpool have both had champons league success. Reyes was awful in the preiership for Arsenal but i believe that him and Aimar are good players. But Reyes is trying to revive his career. Aimar cant be a brillaint player otherwise the Spainish club he was at wouldnt let him go.
