1. Jill is probably the worst, least fleshed out, and least interesting character in the series.

2. RE4 is vastly superior to the many excellent RE games of the past, and the only true RE game that could ever be considered a major contender at anyone's top 10 list. Honestly...I mean shit guys, come on.

3. The backlash on the Internet is from a very small number of loud-mouthed horror fans, who probably got into gaming for games like RE and Silent Hill(or either people who didn't give a shit about RE4 until Gamecube owners and RE fans started talking about how great it was), and who are upset that most of the new horror games suck, and/or are bitter than RE5 might steal the spotlight from their flavor of the month.

4. RE doesn't, nor ever has sucked. Not yet at least. Not the main series. In fact, so far, it has been one of the very few series' that have gotten better with each installment. 1, 2, 3, CV, 4. With the exception of 3 and 0, those games are just about in order of quality from least to greatest.

5. Without RE4, nobody would give half a shit about this game, most likely. Remember the last Silent Hill game? Me neither. RE4, by most accounts(and most importantly mine) was a masterpiece. RE3 wasn't. Now you want RE3 back? It's a joke, honestly. There is no accounting for tastes. However, let me recommend you replay one of your favorite games, Dino-Crisis, and leave RE5 to those such as myself, whom have yerned for ambience and atmosphere since the last damn game raped our minds.

yeah i agree with Zen on they kept improving with the series i wasnt really feeling the story in RE4 to much but it was a good game and liked it as much or more than some of the previous ones

Yeah 3 and 0 idk i just don't remember having as much enjoyment as i did with others

they only really thing that im not liking about 4 and possibly 5 is that there is no more zombies the newer zombies idk don't have the same feel or scare factor as the older ones maybe it's the look or the weapons they carry something is off

and the environments i like the buildings that 12and CV had the close quarters the hallways modern areas like mansions or police stations hospitals street alleys army bases made it feel like it was going on right outside my house i cant say that about 4 with it's villages and wat not and i don't think so for 5 either but i'll have to wait and see b4 i judge 5

Improving depends on your taste. RE4 was more a action shooter game then a horror game like his prequels. If you don't like action shooter games you probably prefered RE1-RE3.

agree with you for the most part.  personally though i like jill, but everything else is dead on correct in my opinion.

But I really liked RE0. It really creeped me out.

I've yet to play RE3 so I can't comment on it. I'm actually in the middle of RE2 on N64. I absolutely adore this game. I don't think RE4 was a master piece. I think it was prolly one of the best games last gen but by far from best. 

Resident Evil was better when it had fixed cameras, zombies, mansions, awkward controls, and lack of ammo. RE4 broke all of the above. Now, I will say this again, I really liked RE4. The Wii version was by far the best one. But I want to play old RE games. I've played 0 and 1. I'm mid 2 and I own CV. I've yet to be disappointed and I doubt I will be. Imo, Capcom should make a new franchise with the gameplay from RE4 and give classic RE fans what they want back.
