Hi guys.

I´ve found some intresting info about NPD sales since 2001. I thought it would be great to see for those of us who hadn´t been around that long.

I just want to say seeing these numbers, how great all consoles today are doing!

Even PS3 who gets all doom and gloom (from myself included) are doing fine if you compare it to GC/XBOX. Wii, well it´s shattering records left and right.

Isn´t it great, the videogame console market is really expanding all the time!

Wow in December 2004 the Xbox actually outsold the Ps2? I think it was due to Halo 2 comming out around that time....it was in November I believe 2004 Halo 2 was released

 Yes, that would make sense.

Looking at these numbers it´s clear how great this current generation is faring in America,

not like Japan where everything except the portables seems to be down in sales (even though Wii has

sold well there).

PS2 undershipped for holiday 2004. The Halo 2 boost only helped November, if you compare XBox's 2004 numbers to 2003 and 2002.

Thanks for posting this. Do you have handheld numbers?

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

 You´re welcomeSmile.

Nope, sorry no handheld figures.

They are from this link I presume: (I have had it bookmarked a while now)

The guy updates it every so often, so it's still missing January numbers but will probably not be long till the are added.

Nice find. Tagged for later use.

The X360 is becoming the PS2 of this gen in America.

4th year PS2 vs X360 numbers so far:
(2003/04 vs 2008/09)

Nov: 850,000 vs 836,000
Dec:1,930,000 vs 1,440,000
Jan: 340,000 vs 309,000

Very nice.

 Yep, that´s it.

I think it´s really fun because now we can compare month by month how today´s competition is doing,

not only in the current "saleswar" but also compared to the previous generation.
