They're not bad but they're not great either. The knife controls are the only part I'd call terrible.

Did you even read my post?

Yes, I did. I have no specific comments about it, so I just decided to post my opinion about the controls :P

Fair enough

It just seemed like a "standard answer" to a "standard question"

Also, I don't know why Capcom doesn't mention this to you, but for all those who didn't know, the D-pad is hotkeyed to switch to items that are placed correspondingly in your inventory. So you can just press left if you have the shotgun lying in the left-middle spot, instead of going to the inventory to do it.

Same for me and the Killzone2 demo... I liked the default controls as soon as I tried them out...

Hearing about the crap controls in RE5 is making me not wanting to buy that game.
It is a survival horror FPS and you can not run and shoot in the game. Having to stand and shoot would be annoying.

You've always had to do that in all of the Resident Evil games. Anything different would be new.

FOR THE LOVE A FUCKING GOD, WHY IS KILLZONE 2 IN THIS THREAD 2???!?? I mean honestly people. Just because you have a frikkin KZ avatar doesn't mean you have to bring it up in every god damn topic.

I get annoyed at people who don't like KZ2 controls, and yet I can't stand RE5 controls myself.

Hypocritical?

You dont have to worry about making pin-point precision shots on zombies that run at 2 mph. Theres no hypocrisy, people have no idea apparently that RESI 5 =/= Killzone 2. Learn it quick.

^Gah! Sorry. Changing subject again. I thought Resi 5 controls were lright due to the fact they are no different then Resi 4.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I know what you mean to original poster, the controllers are meant to create stress (aka no pause inventory) stop and shoot, press the left bumper button and right trigger for knifing. The trill is to get it right the first time otherwise you will be chased all over town by zombies until you get it right otherwise it wont be a survivor game ..

People are saying the controllers feel like controlling a tank, since when a RE game is a fast pace game?

Gamers are spoiled by playing fast pace FPS games, but this is not a FPS game this is a survivor/trill/horror game, you make the controllers any easier also strafe while you shoot and make any faster you will take the Resident Evil feel out of the game...

If I get your post you think the bad controls are a good idea as they increase tension. Making the controls suck to increase stress or tension is not a good idea in my opinion because they are confusing the sort of tension they are creating. They may be trying to increase the tension of the game but this is the sort of tension being stuck in gridlock for hours creates not the sort of tension you experience when something large moves through the fog shrouded beam of your flashlight late at night. The first makes the game sort of a chore the later makes the game sort of scary.

To sum up, I disagree with your opinion.

I think you are confusing outright bad controls with the controls of RE5.

The controls in RE5 are a good choice when controlling a game like RE5, I.E. a game that isn't like Gears of War and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

RE5 is most definetly playable, but the controls are different then what we are used to, so you need to get used to them before you can play well.

Since you can't move while aiming/reloading, it means you have to make a tactical choice so you don't get run down by zombies before you are ready. Likewise, you have to make sure you have enough ammo all the time, since it is scarce compared to other games.

These mechanics (and others) all make sure that RE5 is a game of completely different pace and type compared to say GeoW.

i had ZERO problems with re5 controls but a little bit on the aiming on kz2 but after a little practice its good now...i guess gamers this gen are just crying babies
