Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Official Bioshock Thread

This game needs an official thread.

Anyone got it yet? Anyone playing it?

Bring on the impressions.

I just went and got my limited edition version and I seriously can't wait to play this. It's gonna be a painful time till I can get to try this out.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I'm picking it up next week along with Metroid Prime 3. Some impressions from people who have it would be nice.

Ck, what's the word on your 360? Are you tracking it through Microsoft's new website or what!

I was about to buy it via steam last night, but ran into this thread:

I have a widescreen for PC gaming, and I expect to see more, not less of the screen!

It's the 21st century, for crying out loud. Widescreens are the standard nowadays, and games that are five years old fully and correctly support 16:9/16:10 aspect ratios. Why can't a game that was developed in 2007?

Even the developers said they implemented widescreen "correctly"... and it affects both the 360 and the PC versions.

No thanks, I'll pass until they fix/patch this very basic problem that should have never occurred in the first place.

I downloaded the demo...it took forever. And my personal thoughts are that it looked great, the story should be compelling, but the gameplay felt...meh. For all the hype, I was expecting a whole lot more. I realize it was only a demo, but it didn't suck me into it, like an epic single player video game should. I actually quit out of it before the demo ended. I'll play it at some point, but probably not until next year sometime...maybe.

I download the demo for the PC on Steam. It wasn't bad, but I really didn't find it mind blowing. The gameplay didn't feel like anything new and I didn't see the reason for much of the hype surrounding the game. Sure, it had things like the enemies searching for water if they were on fire and water conducting your electric attacks, but that doesn't feel like a whole new amazing feature. The plasmids in the demo, lightning and fire, pretty much felt like I was playing something like TES4: Oblivion and some of the videos I've seen of telekinesis reminds me a bit of the gravity gun of Half-Life 2.

The graphics of the demo were good and most of the water effects were good (some of the splashes didn't look that great, like the splashes when the tail end of the plane is sinking at the very beginning of the game is an example of it), but the enemies all looked similar and it instantly reminded me of Heavenly Sword's enemies and Half-Life 2's citizens of City 17, lol.

I'm finding it hard to see how it's 'the second coming of christ', but the atmosphere of the game was pretty good though a little too dark at times for my tastes. However, probably the worst part of the demo was hacking into the security robots, that little mini-game was boring after the first time.

I have almost finished it !!!!!

Awesome !!!!!!

If you're that worried about looking at the floors and ceiling of a closed in underwater city, go ahead and wait. I played both 4:3 and 16:9 today and the 4:3 looked weird. The angles looked funky near the top and bottom of the screen.
