"On the most widely read gaming websites, there are few forthcoming Wii titles generating the sort of excitement that preceded the release of Mario Galaxy or Smash Brothers."
Joke??? Or do they not understand who is buying the Wii?

Man, the backlash from that is gonna hurt. But I agree, I wonder if the Wii has seen its time as the "thing to have" start to deteriorate.

Not if people read the post properly.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to this article as the entire article is based on the comments made by analyst Hiroshi Kamide. the article further says that Mr. Kamide is the "only major analyst with a 'sell' recommendation on Nintendo".
Therefore, he is just defending his stance on the matter and is not the overall opinion of the analyst community.

I like it how they read about what's mostly a financial forecast reduction and make conclusions about sales. Nintendo also decreased the hardware shipment forecast, but just by 3.6% which is not much.

The guy understands neither the Wii, nor Nintendo.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
Ehh... There were some points i could agree with, but in general i really can't.
The biggest hit to profit forecast came from Q3 of their FY. Biggest sales in the whole year, while exchange rates are at worst.
The million down in forecasts could be due to problems in factory, possible retooling, maybe shortages due to problems at a supplier, change of supplier etc. It could be something that happened in Q3 or something that happens in Q4.
@Seece: How much software Wii would need to sell for you to believe that it sells because of the software?
Ei Kiinasti.
Eikä Japanisti.
Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.
Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
Mr Kamide, who had been the only major analyst with a “sell” recommendation on Nintendo
Don't think I need to say anything, this pretty much covers it.

Seems like he's trying to find reasons to believe he's the righteous man swiming against the tide.
Apparently analysts can succumb to wishful thinking as well.

it has to do with recession and the rise of the yen...the release of some popular games should help boost the Wii....if the more "core" games do well I think the Wii should see even a bigger jump in sales for systems
