Metroid Prime remake dated and detailed for Japan

North America has traditionally been the first country to receive the Metroid Prime games, but in the case of the original remake for the Wii, gamers overseas will have to wait a bit longer compared to Japan. The Metroid Prime remake has been given a February 19th release date. The obvious attraction here is that the game will make use of the Wiimote and nunchuck similar to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. A true 16 x 9 mode and some finer textures are expected to be present in the game as well.

Well, looks like Japan gets the first dibbs on the remake. You think it will come to the West or will it stay in Japan? Your thoughts on the news.

It will be west bound probably late summer. The series has a far larger audience here than in Japan so it wouldn't make any sense to keep it local.

It will definitely make a state side appearance. Glad to hear about this too. Corruption is a great game, but Metroid Prime is by far the best in the series. Getting the great Wii Remote controls from Corruption will make the game seem like new again.

The cost of locatization would also be low. Only the manual and any in-game text refering to the control scheme would need to be translated since the game content was already translated.

It's definitely coming to the west. The Prime series sells better over here. I just hope we don't have to wait too long.

This is sooner than I'd expected. Very niiiice. :)

never played MP or MP2 but i'm playing MP3 right now and a new fan to the series, I just love the puzzle element of MP3 and will definitly buy this first day.

Already pre-ordered my Pikmin and I think this new Wii Play idea is a great idea to keep people happy until the real games hit.

Nintendo are releasing these a little faster than I expected. I wonder if they'll continue to convert games to 'Play on Wii' if the first batch sell strongly or just keep it to the ones where the update made the most sense in the first place.

Mario Golf would be a good additional title to add though.

Corruption makes Prime 1 and Prime 2 almost unplayable. I bet 1 and 2 will only be better with Pointer functionality.
