Much like Microsoft's keynote, some interesting stuff was shown/announced but nothing for the PS3 (or 360 respectively) mind-blowing.

Oh well, GDC is only 3 months away, right?? If either press conference at GDC is this boring (games wise) it wont bode well for owners of that platform this year.

Anyone have a list of Playstation topics discussed during Sony's speech? If it was this:
4:52PM On the the PS3 and PSP. Not a ton to say about that apparently. They exist, they're on the floor.

This could fuel speculation Sony would be discontinuing the Playstation brand, by not discussing it at all. In the Blog on it, the Blog says Sony spoke all of one minute on their Playstation brand.

Why then have space for those items if you're going to discontinue them anyway?  Just so they can tell people they own that product, people go buy it, make them a loss and then cut it?

Nice thinking there.... /sigh

I woudn't expect much out of GDC. With the renewed emphasis on E3 this year, I think they will hold back any big announcements til then.

Nothing really exciting there

Oh.

MTV is adding 2k hours of programming including stuff from Nickelodeon, VH1, The N, CMT, Spike, and Comedy Central, also including MTV too.

Seems like a good deal to me.

MTV crap, EA Casino and Dr. OZ, is this what PS3 owners want?

all this is for home?.

The EA Sportsplex is for Home. I hope they have more than 1 poker table, or invent a way to create more tables as demand increases.

Sony posted a news post on the Blog, there is way more than just poker. There is F1 slot car racing and maybe golf going by the video.

It definately looks interesting.  I was trying to say, I don't want to wait in line to play poker, golf, slot racing, etc.  I hope they implement the ability to always play these games without waiting for someone else to leave.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

The R&D costs are already sunk. The console is crossing the break-even mark. Blu-Ray sales have been good. Sony has just announced a partnership with MTV to bring over 2000 hours of programming to Home. Sony financed studios have dropped hundreds of millions of dollars on games in development with release dates between next month and the next 12-18 months. Sony has Gran Turismo Prologue fully playable in 3D.

The PlayStation brand is not being discontinued.

I bet we could use similar arguments to defend why virtually none of Sony's products will be discontinued (at least the unprofitable ones). I'm not expecting the PS3 to be discontinued, but I wouldn't bet against it either.

Sony will have to do something big to escape the recession's woes, we just don't know what it is yet. Obviously CES is not the best place to get this info.
