This could fuel speculation Sony would be discontinuing the Playstation brand, by not discussing it at all. In the Blog on it, the Blog says Sony spoke all of one minute on their Playstation brand.

The R&D costs are already sunk. The console is crossing the break-even mark. Blu-Ray sales have been good. Sony has just announced a partnership with MTV to bring over 2000 hours of programming to Home. Sony financed studios have dropped hundreds of millions of dollars on games in development with release dates between next week and the next 12-18 months from now. Sony has Gran Turismo Prologue fully playable in 3D.

The PlayStation brand is not being discontinued.

I bet we could use similar arguments to defend why virtually none of Sony's products will be discontinued (at least the unprofitable ones). I'm not expecting the PS3 to be discontinued, but I wouldn't bet against it either.

Sony will have to do something big to escape the recession's woes, we just don't know what it is yet. Obviously CES is not the best place to get this info.
