Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumour: Pilotwings Returning on Wii?

http://www.cubed3.com/news/11395

Pilotwings may see a long-awaited return to the living room with Balance Board and Mii support, according to rumours. According to an unconfirmed report, the much wanted Pilotwings will be soaring onto the system sometime in the first half of 2009, complete with support for the balance board alongside Mii use. The last time we saw an entry in the series was with Pilotwings 64, an airborne action-packed launched title for the company's chunky black box over a decade ago. Nintendo already showed snippets of an interest Wii-remote based flying demo back in 2006, so if there's truth in this it could be a likely one.

so do you think it will work well with WiiBB?

This should be releasing along with F-Zero, Star Fox, and Kid Icarus.

Awesome if true; and yes, BB is a great peripheral to play flight games on.

@amp316.

Yes, that's right - release 4 of your biggest remainig franchises at the same time. Can't think of any business reason at all why they wouldn't do that.

If they did put this game out, no reason it shouldn't support the Wii Motion Plus peripheral too... imagine using your remote just like an interactive flight stick and the nunchuk for throttle controls, etc.

mmmmh ... Factor5 was developing a Pilotwing game for Gamecube around 2003/2004 ...

I remember that too, then once Wii was released there's been rumors about Factor 5 developing Kid Icarus, which im still kinda finding hard to believe because with Pilotwings it at least made sense that F5 was working on it since they are best known for their flight-based games over the past couple of generations.

From what I heard Factor5 was working on a Kid Icarus game on his own for then try to pitch the project to Nintendo.

The IGN affair , I think, was made to excite the Nintendo fan base thus trying convincing Nintendo to greenlight the project.
