Forums - Sony Discussion - Playstation 3 needs a lot of strong IPs

Crash and Spyro were both replaced by two better games in my opinion. Jak and Daxter, and Rachet and Clank. the situation with 3rd parties going multiplaform is getting out of hand and is higly exgerrated.

95% of all sony exclusives will never go multiplaform because sony owns the IP to them. such francises such as God of War, Rachet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo, and much more. sony owns 22 1st party studios. Thats more than both MS and Nintendo combined.

Around the Network

Jo21 hit the nail on the head. Sony's got the games. Uncharted, Resistance and Ratchet & Clank are all just as much the huge IPs that Mass Effect, Gears of War and Banjo-Kazooie are. The only real reason why any of the former games seem less so is because the PS3's high entry price chokes the games' potential markets. Sony needs to realize that selling the PS3 at a loss is okay, if they can manage to expand the market enough that profits from software sales exceed the hardware losses. Hopefully Sony learns this in time to drop the Japanese PS3 to ¥29,980 and bundle it with the release of Final Fantasy XIII and reap MASSIVE profits from the expanded market and the strong yen.

they already ahve some strong ip's and otehrs that are being release next year.

what they need is a major price cut, put it more inline with wii and 360  price wise

hello how are you.

@Aj_habf, I am a legs fan to point where the game actually has some decent lifetime sales. All I am saying is Sony needs more of those huge IPs they once had on the psone and ps2 that are exclusive.

Legs are wayyyyy more important than big opening week.

Uncharted: Opening Week - 136k...LTD - 2.29 Million and counting

DMC4: Opening Week - 519k...LTD - 1.29 Million and barely selling

GTA and Final Fantasy are massive IPs, but Sony just had to go and lose them...

-.-

Well neither of those were ever a sony IP. They were 3rd party right? Its not like they lost them, the developers just decided to go multi plat
