I don't think the psp is dead at all. from the time it is constantly outselling the ps3/360 proves that. I have always like nintendo and sony products. I have done a sony and nintendo combo for the last 3 console gen, and probably continue it through this gen, both console wise and hand held wise. U get the best of both worlds. Leo j, pls man stop!!! i can tell u are really passionate about sony's console/handheld, thats cool. Just enjoy ur systems. It seems u r trying to prove somethng, the facts are theere. Stop missing the forest for the trees.

Yes the software sales are pretty low considering, but the hardware sales are pretty high. Yes, they aren't as high as the DS, but they are close to Wii numbers and are more than all other consoles and handhelds.

The more hardware sales means that generally software sales will go up as well. So it's more likely that developers will make their money back on their games.

The PSP is far from dead. I can honestly see it still selling in 3-4 years time.

 Actually, it's pretty general knowledge that hardware sales are high and software sales are low because a large amount of PSP owners pirate everything which makes developers reluctant to develop for the PSP.

Im not sure how much piracy is actually with the PSP. Its big with hardcore gamers, but most customers are oblivious to lots of features in their video game systems. Shoot, only 40% of PS3 owners knows that it can play Blu-Ray movies.

The same type of people that are completely oblivious to how easy it is to pirate on the PSP are generally the same people that buy 1-2 games and then never another one.

WTF? 3-6 hours? What were you doing hacking your psp running the interent, music, and game at the same time or something? The average is 6-7 hours. Lite psp will probably have an average of 12-13 hours with the new battery, and the ds lite lasts an average of 9 hours.

You really need to read more.

 IGN article on testing original PSP battery found 3-5hr life. Sony said '4-6'.

@http://psp.ign.com/articles/574/574557p1.html

 'PSPFanboy' article agreeing with 3-6 on pspslim's batt. or 8-10 with regular psp batter. Includes pic of Sony's statements on PSP battery.

@http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/07/19/the-truth-about-psp-lites-battery-life/

 It is true that the PSPSlim has improved its power consumption. But at the same time it halved the battery to cut weight and size. That is how it is able to keep the same originaly battery life of 4-6hrs with a much smaller battery. Now you can almost double the original play time by using the original PSP battery. But, as mentioned its cost is heavier PSP and kinda akward to hold.

The DS battery life is better. Its life span is completely dependant on which brightness setting you use. If you use the brightess, I never did nor do I see why you would, you get 5-8hrs. This being the obvious worst case scenario for DSLite. I usually had it a notch lower and got an estimated 10-12hrs. At the lowest brightness level, which I used during the day, is expect to hit the high of 19hrs.

@leo-j Main series>Remake

FF7 CC isnt a remake genius.

I think he's refering more to FF, FF2 and FF Tactics plus the upcoming remakes of Star Ocean and Star Ocean 2... on the other hand DS also gets it's share of Square Enix remakes, FFIII already released, FFIV, and not to mention 3 Dragon Quest remakes... 1 plus 1 plus 3 = 5, 1 plus 1 plus 1 plus 2 = 5, hey what do you know... PSP vs DS Square Enix remakes we have a tie! *Unless I'm missing something*.

How do you folks think about Brave Story? Personally I loved the JP version and Jeanne d'Arc is pretty amazing as well.

There's actually 6 on the PSP's sidei f you count the (Japan only) Itadaki Street port with the FF characters tossed in.

Itadaki Street is a DS game.

I'm not too sure that the low software sales are entirely caused by piracy because Piracy was reasonably inexpensive, easy and common on the Playstation, PS2, XBox, and Gameboy Advance and saw such low software sales ...

To a certain extent I believe the lower software sales are in part because of how well the PSP works as a multimedia device. The PSP systems I have seen in public are used more often for watching movies and television (I suspect off of memory stick) or listening to music. Currently there isn't a portable video player that is as portable as the PSP, with a screen as large or nice as the PSP, that is as inexpensive as the PSP and I think that has driven a large portion of the hardware sales ...

PSP is a freaking PS2 that is portable why do people say the system has nothing but ports of existing games...."port" is in its freaking name Playstation Portable....Its nice to have a portable device that has music, movies, games, videos, internet all combined for a nice price tag...I am one of those 25 million users out there that is satified and Sony did an excellent job on producing it...only if they made a second analog though and if they would make a better screen where scratches aren't so senstive to it...gosh I got freaking 4 scratches on mine already!!!

oops I mean I was proud to be a owner of a psp out of the 22 million users....I said 25 million by mistake...oops sorry...Sony might hit that target anyway...^_^

The PSP hate here is strong, it's worse than most forums. I seriously laugh every time someone says PSP lacks good games.

what is wrong with you? did even 1 person say in this thread that PSP had bad games? I heard about 3 or 4 people say PSP had better games than DS, and then i heard people say that was an opinion. I never heard a single person say DS had better games than PSP. Where's the hate? People saying DS is gonna outsell PSP, they must be real fucking geniuses to figure that one out.

 ...Did you actually READ any of the posts, alot of people are saying the problem with the PSP is the lack of quality titles, which is obviously isn't true.

looking back I see 1 guy that said that, but there are still more people saying PSP has better games.  It doesn't matter, it's an opinion.  People just need to say "I think" before they state a system is lacking quality titles.  Doesn't help when people see there are admins doing it though.
