Forums - Sales Discussion - Pachter: Boom Blox and de Blob bombed

Listen to FishyJoe people.

So we shouldn't look down on an analyst who's consistently wrong about the future, because when he made his predictions the future hadn't arrived yet?

I think that Pachter felt that those games should be million sellers cause of the quality he felt that they processed.

...I don't know it seems that Nintendo can't shake the perceived "3rd parties don't sell" notion. Look at good 3rd party games (i.e: Pure) on PS3/XB360 that legitimately didn't sell well, and you don't get Pachter or anyone else saying, "Ohhhhh NOOOOSSSSEEEEE!!!"

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Yes, don't u listen to sarah conner?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'll say it again, this was recorded before November NPD was released. The reason I know this is because the first segment was shown last week, which means this was taped at least a week ago.

THIS.

Perhaps hes right, but the information hes got is incomplete.

I suppose that's possible. But considering what we've seen of him so far, and how he openly admits to not really understanding why the PS3 is down and the Wii is up, I think it's just that Pachter lacks the analytical skills required for his job (or he's lying to the public and giving better advice to the paying customers). I'm not saying I could do that much better, mind you, but even I have a better track record than Pachter at this point, and I don't have access to the same numbers that he does.

I suppose it comes down to this: Hes really good with financial hard data, but hes not very good at assigning a value to information which is imprecise, such as game sales. Also we don't know what values he ascribes to the category "bombed" so we are speculating as much as he is thought to.

Tease.

De Blo bis on it's way to 800k and Boom Blox is near 1 million.

Pachter is once again dead wrong.
