Forums - Sony Discussion - Is Playstation network now better than the Xbox live?

Someone else once said it best (can't remember who..)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Noooooooooo.

I'm a bigger fan of the PS3 and PSN, but it's not better than XBOX Live. When I can send cross-game invites, send invites whenever I want (can't always invite people in LBP for some retarded reason, even when they're playing and are in the POD), and can private chat while in games and changing between games/XMB, then it will be better.

Until then, the answer is easily no.

IMO, yes, definitly (and I own both consoles). Why? Free - home (for what it's now and what it will be) - easier to use - sexier. Nothing else to say. Discuss.

Biased and ridiculous, this is what you get with a 2 sentences thread that finishes with a "Nothing else to say"...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

To people saying that Home is garbage and Live is better than PSN.... I completely agree.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I own both systems, and no, PSN isn't better than Xbox Live.

NXE is far more useful.

Imo, PSN is way behind Xbox Live.

  • Bland design.
  • No voice chat.
  • No party mode.
  • Home is useless and boring.
  • Life with Playstation, tried one time... enough.
  • Internet Browser, pain in the ass.
  • Trophies are not as addictive as Achievements.
  • Total online integration is nowhere near Xbox Live (Avatars in dashboard, Live Messenger, Windows Media Center)
  • No demos available for EVERY PSN game (XBLA does).
  • XBLA collection is A LOT BIGGER than PSN library.
  • No Netflix support.
  • No Community games (btw, you gotta try BLOW, awesome game!).
  • No PS1 or PS2 titles available trough PSN (Xbox originals available on Xbox Live).

I would pay 100$ each year for Xbox Live. 4$ per month is nothing.

Online service = Microsoft.
Blu-Ray Player = Sony.

That's how it works at home.

- I have no problem with the design
- There is Voice chat but it's useless
- You can do party mode even with your cam. You can also do it in HOME

-True but HOME is still being polished so we can't judge yet:)

-Can't say anything about that. Never tried it

-Not if you have a good connection, a mouse, and a keyboard. Whenever my parents are hogging the computer, I have my PS3 to turn to:D

- I really don't understand the difference between the two but in my opinion, I find trophies more addictive than achievements

- What's the point of having an avatar in the dashboard? eh, Live messenger can be helful, I'll admit that. Xbox has Windows media and the PS3 has internet so they're equal.

I gotta give this to PSN. On XBL, all of the people I meet are dicks. to me, I don't find that worth anything at all. Besides, PSN barley lags=D

Favorite films. Foreign films forever!

Anyone saying PSN is better should try and play GT5P online. While I love the game its absolutely pathetic. Random races, no rooms cant select which track, no playing with friends and no voice chat lol Pathetic.

Ynwa.

Depends on what you like, if you are really into home type applications, you will like PSN more. If you don't play many games online and don't really ever download anything, I think PSN is better than XBL. Why pay if you don't really do much with the service?

I'm really into XBLA and somewhat into community games, so it's no contest for me.  I'm liking Netflix streaming a lot too.  I wish they had more TV shows though.

I love how people think that the PSN users are some how "nicer" than the Xbox Live users. They are just as annoying, but the PS3 just has less people with mics and is harder to mute people (or impossible in some games). And anyone who thinks PSN lags LESS than Xbox Live hasn't used them both extensively.

Watch out kowenicki! There are secret members of SDF in here like Leo-J and others that will crucify you for cursing Home in its "beta" state!

P.S. I agree with you and twestern, by the way. As well as many others on this site. The ones that like it or have high hopes for it are in a vast minority, and usually just ones that ONLY own a PS3. We PS360 fellows see things how they truly are.

P.S.S. I do not fear these members of SDF as I have an impenetrable fortress where no bum raping PS Home user could ever dance his way into!

Yes, easily.
