What if I buy them at full price, but not on the first day? I was torn, trying to find the answer that best fit my circumstances. I wound up picking "Blockbuster or Gamefly". I don't subscribe to either.

I clicked that I buy them ater a while, but this gen its been about a 50/50 split between 1st week and later

I don't pirate and I have never rented a video game

I would have clicked. Buy at full price, but not first day/week.

but since that didn't exist, I just clicked buy first day.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I almost always wait for the price to drop, I have also a lot of "classics" given with small overprice with gaming mags (I got this way GPL, Myth and Gothic, for example) but as here in Italy, especially in the past, we often had localized versions very late, overpriced and badly translated, and I don't mind playing game in english, I often had opporunities to buy games online from abroad at budget prices when they still were full price here, I grabbed the opportunity for Morrowind GotYE, for example, buying it from Amazon UK together with books (so I saved on shipping, while without buying books it would have been cheaper at gameplay.co.uk or play.com).

last gen i would always rent and buy used games b4 buying them new unless it was something i knew i was going to keep like GTA VC,SA, MGS3, and RE4

Now that the price of games went up to 64$ with tax and that im older than i was at the beginning of last 2 gens i found a sort of pirate way to get games

i always buy them new with in the 1st week or 2 from wallmart and save the receipt I've mastered the skill of opening and putting the game back into the package w/o destroying it if the game is good or part of a franchise like GT4 or MGS4 i'll save the package and keep the game forever

If i've beaten the game and see no future value from it or if the game is so bad that i don't want to play it any more i carefully put it back in the package close it all up and within 90 days wallmart well take it back for a full cash refund

there is no need for renting for me as it's a waste of 10$ and u have to wait for the store to get it in which isn't usually the same day or week that the game comes out in stores

and waiting for price drop is a pretty long wait as used games only go for 54$ for the 1st couple of months after it's released and slowly goes down in 5$ increments after that and a price cut is even worse wer i live uncharted is still 60$ new

so my answer is i usually buy games that i'm interested within the 1st week it's been released new and pirate my money back after 90 days if i see no future value in the game

.

buy the bigger games such as fallout, fable, gears 2, metal gear, left for dead and games i know have good legs in multiplayer. if i read a review and find that a game is under 10 hours like dead space or the force unleased i rent not worth 60 euro.

Same here. I rarely, if ever, buy my games on the first day of release. Still, I do try to purchase them while they're relatively new, so it's usually for full price.

Still, it's worth supporting the industry by voting with my dollar.
