Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto is irrelevent

if a game selling 10 million plus is irrelevent then the PS3 and 360 are irrelevant.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

*cuts woopah's head off with Master Sword* That should teach him. Now to read the thread...

oh...

Nothing to see here. Go about your business.

Can we in the future leave this on Neogaf please?

Are we soo fixated on the Neogaf forum, that we've come down to discussing individuals comments? And a person so ridiculously stupid, that the backlash of posts he got for making the comment lasted 2 or 3
pages in, no less.

Can't we just reserve the gaf for news related threads?

Agreed.  This thread was crap.

You're right you know. Miyamoto is a very small part of Nintendo and most of the games that have been credited to him recently have received only average reviews, Wii Music, Sports and Fit are the most obvious examples.

Did you just compared Kojima to Miyamoto?

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Irrelevant to tunnel-vision critics and irrelevant to niche gamers.

To everyone else in the world, Miyamoto is at his peak. He holds the intellectual reins of Wii, the fastest selling console in history.

He's even outperforming himself from the Mario and Zelda days.

10 Million+ sellers Wii Fit and Nintendogs say hello.

Sales != relevence.  For example, VGchartz has Imagine: Babies selling 3 Million copies.  Would you say Imagine: Babies is relevant to gaming culture?  I dont particularly like what Miyamoto does, but I certainly can admit that he has a great influence on gaming culture in his tenure at Nintendo.

Anyway, this is just proof that idiocy is rampant on the internet.  NeoGAF is not the only forum that suffers from this, it happens here more often than people would like to admit.

Yes.  It's been successful with a market that's been difficult for developers.

Unless you think getting women to enjoy gaming at a young age is irrelevant to gaming culture.

Further, high sales are one important measure of something's cultural significance.

Actually, yes. Sales and quality are separate, but relevance is very nearly defined by sales.
