Forums - Gaming Discussion - Planning to buy Xbox 360 or Wii...Few questions.

First:Which one?

Second:I have Pc,PSP,Super Nintendo,PS3,Ps2.

For Xbox 360:Well I wanna play Tales of vesperia,Lost Odysseus and Gears 2.I'm gonna ask it for christmas present,so maybe I get it maybe I don't.I don't care so much, just don't have anything else to ask.

So,what you miss if you buy Arcade, not Pro model?

How you pay for Xbox live if you don't have credit card and are under 18 years old?

How to avoid that frikkin Red ring of death?

For Wii:I wanna try it,and gonna get Super Smash Bros Brawl,Zelda,Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid prime 3.Again I'm gonna ask it for christmas present,so maybe I don't get it,maybe I will.

If you buy a Wii, you can sell it on Ebay for $500 and then buy a 360 and Wii.

The Pro model has a 60-gb hard drive, and it currently comes with Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones. Arcade comes with a few Live Arcade games and a memory card.

How you pay for Xbox live if you don't have credit card and are under 18 years old?

Go to a retail store like EB or Gamestop and buy an Xbox Live time card. It comes with a code you input online to give you the time. You can get 13 months for $60.

How to avoid that frikkin Red ring of death?

Keep the console off your carpet (away from the dust) and make sure it's not stuck in some overly hot room. Other than that, just don't move it too much while you're playing and it should be fine.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I would say "don't move it at all while you're playing", and this goes for any console or computer (except laptops of course). Not because of RROD but because of failed hard drives/scratched DVDs.

The RROD is mostly a relic of the past if you buy a new console. Forget about it.

If you do get a Wii and are into the Tales series, you can get Tales of Symphonia 2 for it.

I'd say get the Wii, but it really depends on your personal taste.

Anyway, I think TheSource gave the best advice! ;D

Oh, I just noticed you also have a PS3... In that case, there's no debate. Buy a Wii for a truly new experience.

I have all three consoles and I can tell you this: There are gaming experiences that the Wii offers that you can't get anywhere else. The Wiimote is cool as hell.

That said, I feel like Nintendo made a huge mistake not putting just a *little* more graphics horsepower in the Wii. My daughter likes her Wii but when we have a choice -- i.e. Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars Complete Trilogy -- she always chooses the 360 over the Wii because she likes the better graphics.

The 360 has become more casual over the last year and unless you really feel like you need the Wii Experience, I'd go 360. Get an Arcade and buy the refurb 20 gig hard drive for 20 bucks from Microsoft. There are a lot of arcade titles that are VERY casual and there are many more in the pipeline.

Really, though, it comes down to the games you want to play. After playing a game like call of duty, Forza 2, Gears, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and so on, going back to PS2 style graphics really blows chunks. Yeah, Super Mario Galaxy is a beautiful game, but the truly impressive graphics on the Wii are few and far between.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

I see you are from Finland.

Anyway, there are some people who are selling 13 month live memberships for 33 euros or something like that. If you decide to get a 360, I can tell you one trustworthy person who sells those. :)

I think you can get a 20gb hd for quite cheap if you buy arcade. So you would miss hd-cables and 40gb of hd space. Of course you will miss lego indy and kungfu panda... but you get sonic tennis in return!

I have all three as well, however, I hardly play my 360 or PS3 anymore. I'd definitely suggest picking up a Wii to play all the amazing games that you won't find on the PS360 (All Ninty Titles, No More Heroes, Red Steel, Zach and Wiki, Boom Blox, etc) and you have a huge library of GCN titles you can pick up as well as the Virtual Console and WiiWare.

You know, that doesn't work around here. :)
