It's freaking hilarious that this guy isn't counting a Japanese exclusive (which will sell more than everything else on the 360 list just in Japan) but is counting Destroy All Humans and Disgaea 3.

Hey - let's try to keep it civilized. "That guy" is me. And I am dead serious about this. Nothing hilarious here. In the future when I am joking, I will let you know where the funny places are.

Now, even though you were rude, I will still provide you with a serious answer to the point. I hope in the future you will return in same.

This thread is not about the quality of the titles or their sales figures. We are looking only at pure count of titles. I understand why you may find it strange, so let me explain that decision.

The goal is not to determine which titles will sell the most. The goal is to to figure out if one of the console may be at risk of getting the perception of the "console that only gets some of the titles". One or two titles will not change anything in the equation.

But if one of the consoles gets, week after week, more titles than the other console, then such a perception starts to form. Regardless if the titles are good or bad, big or small, of one genre or another – the sheer number of the exclusive titles will start taking a fatal toll on the “losing platform”. And this is what we are measuring here.

When you look at it like this you may understand that one title, as big as it may be, does not change anything in this dynamic.

Separately, I have answered already in details why Japan is insignificant in the global picture. Since Japan currently has only 4% of the global console HW market sales, any local events there have virtually no effect on the overall picture. See my answers to BKK2 on the topic.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I refered to you, amirnetz, as 'this guy' not to be condesending but because I didn't remeber the name of thread creator.

You make a good point on hardware, but you shouldn't count out third party Japanese software, because they sell more software than 4%. Besides, I just did the math, and Japan has 22.17% of hardware this generation. Worth of a bit or recognition.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Very good. A much improved conversation style. Thank you.

The 22% of Japan is an old historic ratio. There had been a major shift in Japaneese VG consumption in the last year. A while back there was a craze of console consumption that ended over 12 months ago in Japan. And now the market seems to be saturated. For the past quarters they are just not a factor. Their current run rate for console global share (Wii+360+PS3) is indeed lower than 5%. Do the math for the sales in the last quarter and you'll see it.

Regarding software - the Japanese are still great consumers. But this thread is not software sales but third party title support and its effect on HW sales.

Does it make more sense now?

Amphibian Man
Tears To Tiara: Earth's Wreath
Uncharted Waters Online
The Wall
White Album

Thanks for the info. It took me a while to do the verifications on the titles. Here is what I have right now. I accepted parts of the two lists. Several titles were rejected:

Way of the Samurai Japan Only
Metal Gear Online
Price
BlazBlue Calamitiy Trigger
Cannot find it
Uncharted Waters Online
Japan Only
The Wall None exclusive

Several more had only scant information about them. I am not sure if, when and to what platform they will be released. I'll appreciate good links for these so I can include them:

White Album
Big Time Revenge
Codename: Sengoku 23KU
Amphibian Man
Cross Edge

The rest are included in. Please provide the additional info so I can update the PS3 list. 5 more titles will be very significant.

Sorry for the delay. It took me a while to revamp and clean up the lists. I found VGRelease.com as a great source for the list of all upcoming titles. The content was somewhat overwhelming with a huge list of titles listed for the two HD platforms. I trimmed it down a little by looking only at titles that have some sort of release date (even just a year). I felt that if the year is not known then we are likely to be missing a lot of other important importnat info - such as platform support.

So after all of the work, this iis how the list looks like. There might still be errors and I would appreciate feedback:

Current list stands on:

Demons soul and Yakuza are THIRD PARTY exclusive on PS3...why doesn't MGO standalone version and Way of the Samurai count they are getting NA releases? BlazBlue is on the exclusive list in the Sony section

Wow, the 360 is doing better than the PS3?? Who knew! Thanks for showing us, buddy.

Oh, and it seems like you forgot the Wii. Or would that make you look even more dumb?

You really need to stop creating threads or start using better logic in them.
