Sony was not announcing this to external media. It was just some dork that decided that he is above the law came out and spilled the info.

With that said this does not mean a price cut in spring is a sure deal. All Sony has said is after this finnancial year they will be able to start looking into price cuts, so don't get your hopes up. As far as this leak effecting sales, it will do very little. Normal consumers don't have any clue about this kind of stuff. It takes a long time for consumers to even realize that a real price cut has went into effect. For now this is just another piece of info that is purly something for us to speculate on.

We've seen plenty of rumours in big websites which ended up being false... this one is even less believable. At least I have never heard of this website.

man if this is true and leaks out mainstream, it could kill sales... though it might force an early price cut

I am doubting Sony is crazy enough for another price cut, but it will be interesting to see what happens if they do one.

I hope that it will be a massive price cut, not a 50$... 299$ would be a perfect price for the ps3!

brint it on, so xbox 360 could be even lower. i like the way it is right now, MS just response to Sony move, remember, sony put expensive hardware on PS3. they are trying hard to reduce the cost.

Timing is about right - Sony will need a price cut around then. Not sure if it will be at the tail end of the current fiscal year (March '09), or in April to kick-start the '09-10 fiscal year.

Might depend on how they go with sales, and if they make their 10m forecast (should get close).
