Being that over 8 million people bought Halo 2. And there is still 14 million xbox owners that don't have a 360. (24mil - 10 mil = 14mil)

This game is the reason to buy a 360; just like Halo was the reason to get a xbox.

I think people are actually underestimating the hype behind this title. Further more Microsoft is going to put a massive push behind it going in. We are bound to see a lot of advertising for this game, and the library in general. Depending on the pending price cut we will know whether the console has also entered the casual range for players. There will be a lot of impulse on the market for this system almost like a second launch.

This could really be a perfect storm of a title. I would not underestimate it in the least. The marketing will matter the most if Microsoft can make people think they need this title to be in it and hip then yes it will move a massive number of consoles.

Could you imagine the sales if they bundled it with the Premium? MS would crush PS3!!!

SOMEBODY SAID IT already..a great deal of the Halo fans already have their Xbox360.... So it won't push much. Mass effect can do something....but then again...their aren't much Xbox/Xbxo360 owners...So I guess it won't push much in the overall.... PS3 sales are starting to pickup and by the time the sales start to drop to fast the games will start coming in...and then HOME comes and the NEXT-Gen war starts.. for PS3 and it will end the race for Xbox360 by the end of next year.

But all in al it will push a lil bit but not much....so 12million-13million is as much as they can sell this year. Ps3 will end with 8 mil pieces.. and the Wii well it will still run like a rocket...

I think you're forgetting about Gears of War and the Halo 3 Beta, anyone who was that big for halo would have already made the jump for the Beta, and would have gotten Gears of War to pass the time while they waited for Halo 3.

Of course in that scenario, sales wouldn't jump at all, while by your scenario, they'd jump by the millions, and we both know neither one of those is going to happen.

My prediction is that 360 sales will jump up by, at most, 10% of whatever the sales are of Halo 3, which may also be countered by some of the Red Ring issues still lingering in people's minds, and also the Wii may boost its production as well.

I dont expect the sales to jump at all, look at the sales of crackdown partially 70% of the people that are getting halo 3 should have a 360 by now. It might increase in North america to the 40k range, but I expect the ps3 to outsell the 360 for the rest of this generation. Though I am not including the slight price drop. Heavenly sword looks to me that it will get a 10/10 and move hardware fast, not halo 3, software but not hardware.

Everyone is understimating Halo 3. Halo 3 and GTA IV ARE the biggest games that are coming out this year. Period. Hands down. Regardless of quality, these two games will sell more than anything else.

It will at most triple 360's sales for 2 weeks. Then back to normal. So they will look really good in September. My reasoning is:

1. There are 10m+ people out there who owned a xbox and have not purchased a 360.
This means there are probably quite a few halo fans still waiting to buy.

2. Most people who really want Halo already bought a 360 with/for Gears of War as it is the same type of game and is a great game that sold really well.
This means the total number of halo fans waiting to buy is not as high a many think.

More or less the sales due to Halo 3 will be similar to the sales due to Halo 2. If I'm not mistaken, that was about triple sales for a couple of weeks.
