Wow I didn't expect a review that's this bad. Seems like he just wanted to dump on it.

Why should it have been on PS2? It sold pretty good in Japan and will no doubt become the best sold RPG so far this gen. That's a massive success for Namco (and for Wii ftm). |
If you don't count WRPG's, then I suppose it has a chance.

Really Benga? Every main Final Fantasy has been a large step away from it's predecessors. And more of the same for FF means more excellence in all sectors of the game with a uncomparable amount of polish. |
I meant it ironically. I tend to think that every FF is quite different, but objectively they're all about the same, just like most JRPGs.
But even if FF13 was exactly the same as FF12 it would probably receive high praise from the gods at IGN. But Symphonia gets a low score because it's exactly the same as the first. Reviewers are such hypocrits it's really not funny anymore.
@yakuzaice: yes, I meant JRPGs
It got a 6.7 and I'm still waiting for Amazon to ship it
i'll have in 2 days for sure, then i'll know if it's great or not!!
(i'm sure it will)
Bought the game yestesday in the evening at a Futureshop in Québec. The game was not on the shelves yet, but I saw copies of the game on a chariot with other games to be placed (Like Call of Duty) and asked if I could buy it. A nice girl told me to wait 5 minutes so she could enter the game in the informatic system and I was then able to buy it^^
I played 6 hours of it and so far it is excellent!!! Don't trust IGN review, if you liked the first one, you will like this one. This is a great game. The only point that scared me was the use of an overworld map, but as far now, it's great, the amount of time I lost searching for things that didn't even exist in Tales of Symphonia is now gone :D
It's always fun watching people defend games they like from bad reviews.

Lol, my only point was that that IGN score might scare some fans of the first one (Like me). I just wanted to reassure these persons that the game is good and that some problems mentioned in IGN review (Like the poor quality of the traduction), well, aren't true (I really can't see how this guy found a problem with the text, it is really well written and well translated)
In short, I'am really enjoying this game :)
You realize it's okay to like a game that isn't perfect, great, or even good right?
Whatever a review says matters very little if you have fun playing it. Likewise there are great games I'm sure you dislike (or are you a sheep that likes what everyone else likes?).
I'd like to hear more about what people enjoy in the game and the things that make it fun, and less about why the review is wrong.
Of course people don't have to take reviews for granted and I almost never look at them (If it was the case, I would not have bought Wii Music and being enjoying it for what it is, not for what the mainstream media want me to like....lol, I fell like Sarah Palin right now)
I could go on an say why Tales of Symphonia DOTNW is so great, but first I only played 6 hours, so I want to see more of the game first. Also, I'm at work, so I don't have time right now. Third, I will only say that all the great qualities of Tales of Symphonia are still there: the skits are funny, some characters are really interesting (Emil is quite boring at then beginning, but the game is taking him on an interesting path right now), the game play is great (even if I am still not used to block with the Z button :D ) For the monster, as of now, my impressions are mixed, it's fun, but I don't know if the interest will last for the whole game. As for now, feeding and training them is fun, but they still lack good moves, so I'll have to wait to see if they can really help in though battles.
That's about it for now :0
P.S And sorry for the english, I haven't had a lot of opportunies to write in english in the last 3 years^^
