Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you prefer using a SWORD or GUN when playing video games?

I have enough guns in real life, so swords.... but... I love to do headshots and such... boom! headshot! GUNS!.... no... wait... argh!

Ok, I'm downloading FF VIII NOW!

awesome find dolla dolla

Dagblasted ... here's a gunblade mash up with all the limit breaks.

Gunblade wins. I'm definitely looking forward to FFXIII.

It really does depend on the game whether I prefer a gun (or long rang weapon) or a sword (or close range weapon).

On Godfather for the Wii, because the fighting controls are so in depth and fun, I fight hand to hand combat any time I can without getting slaughtered.  Same goes for Zelda, using Zeldas sword is much more effective, in my opinion, than using the bow all the time.

While in actual FPS, I much prefer using a gun, although I really like the way Red Steel does it, making opertune moments to use the sword.  Thats fun.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

surely it's a silly question, in a games like heavenly sword, would you prefer to use a gun? or use a sword in an FPS? then again I have used neither a gun or sword for VG games, so can't really comment.

One person's experience or opinion never shows the general consensus

spose it depends on the kind of game, that being said i do tend to prefer the sword, not only that but melee combat in general, more up close and personal!!

I prefer swords since it makes upgrading weapons more interesting. There are always legendary swords, longer swords, heavier swords, titanium swords, etc. Compare that to RPGs with guns. Oh yay, I bought a new fictional gun, I can take off more now. Right.

I also prefer swords since it makes the game a bit more realistic. If you're playing a game like Fable or something it almost makes sense that your main character can kill all those people and not die. If you're really really good with a sword and all your opponents use only swords, than you are essentially unstoppable, it would be possible to go though quests killing people left and right and you could escape unscratched.

But games with guns? It takes one putz with a pistol and half decent aim and your main character is dead 5 seconds into your quest.

=p soriku, we know where it's at.

sword, because that means that the game is playing in a medieval world which i prefer over realistic worlds where you have to use a gun to fight your way trough the game.
